Dear member, What a year 2020 has been. We’ve never seen anything quite like it. First, it was a year that shot out of the starting blocks. Unstoppable. Enthusiastically. An impressive start, indeed. Then, suddenly, the hurdles started up popping up, one by one. We expected some obstacles along the way and we were ready for them. But nobody in the world could have been prepared for what happened next. However, this tremendous external pressure has also given rise to amazing opportunities, initiatives and evolutions. It is human nature to answer problems with solutions. To counter despair with hope. New communities of like-minded people originated. If the pandemic has made one thing very clear, it is this: our social life has taken on an additional dimension that is here to stay. One in which authentic, high-quality digital connections matter even more than before. Around the globe, people are starting to turn away from the classic social media platforms. Users have become increasingly aware of how valuable their privacy (and data) is. No wonder the Vitae platform got off to a flying start by focusing on a very strict privacy policy, an advertising-free timeline, an interesting rewards system and no interference with user-generated content. In 2020, Vitae - still only in beta - noted exponential member growth. An unseen success that must surely hold even bigger promises for 2021. With such major potential at its core, it is only natural that people are looking forward to the launch of the completely revamped platform in Q1. Another evolution that was hard to miss this past year, was the definitive breakthrough of cryptocurrency. The value of Bitcoins hit an all-time high in 2020, with altcoins soon to follow. It wasn’t just the value that went up, however. There has been an exponential increase of cryptocurrency usage worldwide, as well. Will we look back at 2020 later and say that this was the year when decentralized currencies really took off? Quite likely so. One thing is absolutely sure, though. We are heading towards some very interesting times. And we are ready for them with Vitae, a user-focused platform that has taken all the hurdles so far. With confidence, hope and vision.
