The Hemostasis and Thrombosis Research Fellowship at the Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) is designed to provide an additional one to two years of mentoring and training in the laboratory study of coagulation disorders for an MD, either prior to or following completion of a fellowship in either pediatric hematology/oncology or medical hematology/oncology, or a PhD with interest in medical research. The objectives of the fellowship are to provide salary support, laboratory facilities, and mentoring in an area of hemostasis or thrombosis. The fellowship is supervised by Dr. Eric Grabowski, Director of the Cardiovascular Thrombosis Laboratory, and a pediatric hematologist/oncologist, and Dr. Larissa Bornikova, MD, a medical hematologist/oncologist. The fellowship will include an appointment in either the Department of Pediatrics or the Department of Medicine, depending on the applicantās background. Present laboratory projects include improved diagnostic accuracy in Von Willebrand Disease through microfluidics and real-time image processing of images of platelets adhering to and aggregating upon a surrogate vessel wall in flowing blood and acquired using epifluorescence digital video-microscopy, a study of the role of the VWF propeptide in platelet adhesion/aggregation, evaluation of bleeding in women and girls with menorrhagia, localization of factor VIII and factor VIIa to platelet membranes in real-time in flowing blood, and parallel mouse and cell culture models of enterohemorrhagic hemolytic uremic syndrome as a complement and tissue factor-driven thrombotic microangiopathy. Dr. Grabowski is also the Medical Director of the Massachusetts General Hospital Comprehensive Hemophilia Treatment Center, while Dr. Bornikova is Associate Medical Director. We are seeking multiple postdoctoral trainees to take on leading roles as part of the newly established Viral Epidemiology and Immunity Unit (VEIU). The VEIU is part of the Laboratory of Infectious Diseases (LID) within the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) at the National Institutes of Health (NIH). In the VEIU, we use a multidisciplinary approach to investigate immunological protec-tion against and susceptibility to emerging and reemerging viral diseases with the goal of informing how vaccines can be effectively and safely licensed and introduced through vaccination programs. Our research focuses on immunologically complex viral diseases with high global burden, including flaviviral diseases (such as dengue and Zika) and diseases caused by coronaviruses (including COVID-19).
Postdoctoral trainees joining the VEIU will help design and implement projects, interacting directly with collaborators in the U.S. and internationally, including with experts leading longitudinal cohort studies in Nicaragua, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Ecuador, and the Philippines. Researchers in the VEIU will also be in-volved in establishing new clinical and observational studies at NIH and abroad.

Epigenetics and Inflammatory Laboratory in the Department of Nephrology & Hypertension at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN under** Dr. Xiaogang Li . The lab mainly focuses on understanding molecular mechanisms and discovery treatment for autosomal dominant polycystic kidney disease (ADPKD) and other kidney diseases. The Laboratory of Molecular Psychiatry in Aging in the Department of Pharmacology & Experimental Therapeutics at Boston University School of Medicine (BUSM) is seeking to fill a full-time position of Postdoc Associate, requiring experimental skills and some experience of data analysis.

Available Position: Postdoctoral Research Fellow in eye research

Position Description: An NIH-funded postdoctoral research fellow position is available immediately in Dr. Jing Chenās lab in the department of ophthalmology at Boston Childrenās Hospital and Harvard Medical School to study the molecular basis of eye diseases. Successful candidate will perform research in animal models of eye diseases using both genetic and pharmacological approaches to study the underlying molecular mechanisms and identify potential therapeutics for vascular and neuronal degenerative eye diseases including retinopathy of prematurity, diabetic retinopathy and age-related macular degeneration. Current projects in the lab include: 1) Wnt signaling-mediated blood-retinal barrier control and vascular leakage; 2) nuclear receptor-mediated retinal pigment epithelium oxidative damage and degeneration in dry age-related macular degeneration; 3) chronic ocular inflammation in retinal aging. Research fellow will be trained with various techniques including in vivo retinal fundus and OCT imaging, single cell RNA sequencing, confocal imaging, and other skills needed for eye research.
Job responsibility: the research fellow will assist PI in designing experiments, performing molecular, cellular and imaging analysis in the projects, presenting findings in local seminars and national professional meetings, writing manuscripts for peer review, and assisting with research grant writing and reporting.

Postdoctoral Fellow - Genome Editing and Small Molecule Therapy Duke University, Durham, NC Salary commensurate with experience, includes excellent benefits. Postdoctoral position available immediately for research on genome editing in rare genetic diseases. Genome editing with adeno-associated virus vectors is a major focus of the laboratory. The project will include in vivo genome editing to treat glycogen storage disease (GSD), either GSD type Ia or type II (Pompe disease). A second focus is to develop small molecules to stimulate autophagy and reverse the abnormalities of autophagy in GSDs. New drug therapy for GSDs will have implications for the treatment of more common conditions, including non-alcoholic fatty liver disease and diabetic nephropathy. Representative publications describe the scope of this project [1-6]. A Postdoctoral Fellow position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Andrew Lane at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, Department of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery.
We use a combination of cutting-edge interdisciplinary approaches in immunology, molecular genetics, and immunohistochemistry to investigate the interaction between the immune system and epithelial cells in health and in chronic inflammatory disease. We are particularly interested in basic mechanisms underlying chronic rhinosinusitis with polyps, including subcellular pathways impacting progenitor cell physiology, innate immune defense, and epithelial repair. At this time, we are specifically focusing on how these pathways impact SARS-CoV-2 infection, in collaboration with virologist team members.
