Postdoc position at Brown University An exciting full-time opportunity as a Postdoctoral Associate exists in Brown University Department of Biostatistics and at the Center for Gerontology and Healthcare Research. This candidate will be mentored by Drs. Roee Gutman, at the Brown University School of Public Health and Thomas Travison at the Marcus Institute for Brain Research. The position is for 24 months and opportunities for travel to conferences and collaborating institutions are available. We are seeking a highly motivated researcher with an interest in pragmatic cluster randomized trials to work on methodological development in the designing and analyzing adaptive pragmatic randomized trials to address non-adherence and proxy responses. Many pragmatic cluster randomized trials suffer from non-adherence at multiple levels. Currently, there are limited methods to address non-adherence in such trials at the analysis stage under restrictive assumptions. An important area of research involves designing trials that address possible non-adherence and would allow for less restrictive assumptions. The focus of this research will be to develop adaptive trials designs that would allow for adaptation of the intervention to address non-adherence during the same trial or in follow-up trials. We also intend to develop analysis methods to address non-adherence in pragmatic trials. Lastly, we would like to consider pragmatic trials when patients cannot report their outcomes and only proxy responses are available for them. These are scenarios are common for people with dementia. The position is supported by the National Institute on Aging (NIA) IMbedded Pragmatic Alzheimer's disease (AD) and AD Related Dementias (AD/ADRD) Clinical Trials (IMPACT) Collaboratory with additional mentorship from faculty members at Brown University, Yale University, Harvard University and NYU School of Medicine. Principal goals of the NIA IMPACT Collaboratory are to develop and disseminate research methods and best practices in the conduct, dissemination and implementation of embedded pragmatic clinical trials (ePCT) for people living with dementia and their caregivers. A Postdoctoral Fellow position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Michael Mannstadt in the Endocrine Unit at the Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH). MGH is a Harvard Medical School (HMS)-affiliated hospital. This is a full-time position with an affiliated Research Fellow appointment proposed at Harvard Medical School (HMS). Employment is contingent upon successful completion of professional credentialing by the MGH Registrar/Credentialing Unit and final appointment by the Trustees of the Hospital to the Staff. PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The Mannstadt laboratory investigates molecular mechanisms controlling the development and function of parathyroid glands, which produce parathyroid hormone that regulates calcium and phosphate homeostasis. We employ wide-ranging techniques to study parathyroid in vitro and in vivo. A major focus of the laboratory is to understand the differentiation of pluripotent stem cells towards parathyroid cells. These studies will lead to an improved understanding of parathyroid function and have important implications for treating parathyroid diseases. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: • The ideal candidate will have a PhD, MD, or MD/PhD in the biomedical sciences, with experience in molecular/cell biology, biochemistry, and animal model systems. • Experience in cell culture, including stem cells, molecular/cell biology, and mouse models of disease, is preferred. • Qualified candidates should be able to work independently as well as in a group environment. Psychiatry postdoc fellowship opportunity at Washington University

A Postdoctoral Fellow position is available immediately in the Section of Retinal Ganglion Cell Biology, National Eye Institute, National Institutes of Health (NIH), in Bethesda, Maryland to study effects of several secreted proteins (olfactomedins, brorins, neuritins) on the activity of the AMPA receptor complex in the retina and brain. This work will provide insight into the role of these proteins and AMPA receptors in optic neuropathies with focus on glaucoma and several neurological diseases. The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine invites applications for postdoctoral research fellowships at the Behavioral Pharmacology Research Unit (BPRU) within the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences. Fellows receive research training in the clinical pharmacology of substance use including human laboratory studies and clinical treatment trials. Dr. Raymond Chung's Laboratory in the Liver Center in the GI Division, Department of Medicine at MGH and Harvard Medical School has an opening for a highly motivated postdoctoral fellow to study liver biology and immunology, pathogenesis and therapeutic targets of liver inflammation and fibrosis, resulting from chronic hepatitis B virus infection (CHB). Particularly, the Chung lab is interested in studying how innate immune cells and the cytokines produced by these cells affect liver injury, inflammation, regeneration, and cancer. Projects involve exploring the transcriptome and proteome of human liver cells at the single cell level obtained from liver fine needle aspiration and from liver biopsies and testing generated hypothesis in vitro, ex vivo and in vivo. Knowledge gained through these studies will provide insights into the pathogenesis of liver diseases beyond CHB, including nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) and alcohol-associated liver disease (ALD) and reveal possible therapeutic targets. The Child and Family Health Lab at Boston University has an opening for a research-focused postdoctoral fellow. The Laboratories for Computational Neuroimaging at the Athinoula A. Martinos Center for Biomedical Imaging invites applications for a Postdoctoral Research Fellow position at the Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School. The project will consist of human brain connectivity analysis, brain image segmentation, and/or multimodal MRI data harmonization, with application in studying Alzheimer’s disease. The appointment is for two years with the possibility of a third year based on performance and the availability of funding. The project involves analyzing structural and functional brain networks through diffusion-weighted and functional MRI and brain structure segmentation, and examining the relationship of brain connections with different stages of dementia. Postdoctoral Fellowship Opportunity at U Penn: Developing Targeted Protein Therapeutics for Acute Critical Illnesses We engineer targeted therapeutics for the treatment of acute critical illnesses, such as ARDS (the acute lung inflammation that kills in COVID-19), sepsis, stroke, and more. We employ the tools of protein engineering and nanomedicine to conjugate affinity moieties (e.g., antibodies and their derivatives) to therapeutics, in order to localize them to their site of action. We test these in mouse models of acute critical illness, as well as large animal models, and in ex vivo human organs that were deemed unsuitable for organ transplant. The current postdoc position will be funded by a grant to develop targeted therapeutics to treat cytokine storm. Cytokine storm (also called CRS) occurs when inflammatory cytokines reach very high systemic levels, and occurs in COVID-19, after CAR-T therapy, in sepsis, trauma, and other lethal conditions. Our novel solution aims to clear the toxic cytokines from the systemic circulation, while preserving moderate cytokine levels in the local tissue, where cytokines are key for fighting infection and cancer. While we are hiring for this grant, the postdoc will also be empowered to develop their own de novo projects and/or build off existing technologies in the lab (such as our 2021 papers recently published in Nature Nanotechnology and accepted at Advanced Materials). The PI, Dr. Jake Brenner, is a physician-scientist who also takes care of patients in the ICU, so the candidate will have the opportunity to observe the diseases we work on in the hospital, and work with clinicians who provide patient samples. The co-PI, Dr. Patrick Glassman, PhD, is a new faculty member in Pharmacology with expertise in protein engineering and pharmacokinetic modeling. Exciting Postdoctoral Fellow Opportunity at Dr. Borahay Women Health Research Lab We are seeking a highly motivated, goal-oriented, and organized postdoctoral research fellow to work on exciting projects in women health research at Johns Hopkins University. The lab of the PI, Dr. Mostafa Borahay, MD, PhD; is expanding with recent additional NIH funding. The fellow will work to understand the pathogenesis and examine novel therapeutics for uterine leiomyomas, the most common tumor of the female reproductive system. The lab is also studying the regulation of menstruation including immune regulation. Responsibilities • Critically reviewing available literature and design research work accordingly. • Planning, conducting, and troubleshooting and completing experiments in several projects. • Performing data analysis, preparing manuscripts, presenting at national conferences. • Preparing applications for funding. • Participating on collaborations both within and outside the institution as discussed with the PI. • Adopting techniques currently used in the lab and learning new ones as necessary • Working as a team member with other lab members. • Accurately documenting experiments and results in a detailed laboratory notebook. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities • Fundamental molecular and cellular biology including biochemistry, cell culture, proliferation, cell death, flow cytometry, protein science, Western Blotting, RNA, DNA ... • Data analysis and graphical representation, manuscript and grant preparation • Candidate is expected to learn new skills as necessary. Candidate is expected to demonstrate successful publication in reputable journals. Additional Opportunity Those interested can participate in ongoing clinical trials which includes interaction with patients, handling Institutional Review Board (IRB) communications and other relevant clinical research activities. Work Environment Clinical and laboratory environment; requires working with human and animal cells/cell lines, blood, and or bodily fluids; effective communication and interpersonal skills.
