*History of Fellowship Hike of 2019* In 2019 January, the Department of Science and Technology (DST) in India issued the order on fellowship hike as it is the appellate authority to revise the emoluments of research fellows irrespective of different streams (Science, Technology, Social Science, etc.). The immediate effect was given to prestigious institutions such as IITs, IIMs, and NITs, and other R&D JRF/SRF/RA Project Posts. However, *UGC-NET/JRF* candidates had to wait until *June 2019 (about 5 months)* for the hike, as per the UGC's order dated June 2019. Similarly, scholars under *CSIR-NET/JRF* saw the revision in rates in *June 2019 (5 months)* with an order issued by the CSIR in June 2019.
