ROUNDS DOWN RANGE One of my favorite mental attitudes I developed came from an old Marine Corps proverb "rounds down range." This is a term which addresses the attitude a true man has when faced with the negative consequences of his mistakes. In origin, it refers to rifle fire and being on the range qual'ing. Every rifleman knows that you often miss as a matter of fact. That's life. Now, when faced with a miss you can either: 1. Mind fuck about it, wallow in guilt or remorse, self-sabotage and feel sorry for yourself (like a loser) or 2. You can acknowledge the mistake, make an adjustment, zero in your sights, and let loose more rounds On the range, the best scores are made by men who take the second tac regularly. In life, the best men are those who are able to acknowledge their mistakes, reflect on it to understand it, adjust their actions moving forward, and let loose more follow-on actions with equal boldness and decisiveness. It does no one any good, whether expressing it to the maligned party or to yourself, when you reflect on the event with excessive remorse. Being racked internally with guilt only diminishes the warrior within. Performative remorse, beyond an appropriate and sincere apology to an aggrieved party, only diminishes the esteem they have of you even more. I relay this not because I am some stoic sage or some dude that has it right all my life. In fact, I have always been a menace to society since I was a kid. Even within the last few years I have said, behaved, and acted in ways which have lost me friends. In fact, my misdeeds lost me my closest friends whom I made in college a few years back. Its something I reflect on often and it frequently pains me to the point of tears. However, I catch myself and remember that I can't change the past. My personal eccentric shows of remorse only hurt me and did not remedy the situation (since I can't put the proverbial toothpaste back in the bottle). BUT, what I can do is be a better man. Therefore, I take those experiences and transmute them into being a better friend to others. In sum, I acknowledged my mistake, reflected on it, adjusted, and continued to fire with better aimed shots. This approach has helped me incrementally accrete my character all my life. You all will make many mistakes in this life. There is no way around it. But the best way to negotiate that spiritual adversity is a sober mindset, which acknowledges failures as a matter of course, and takes ownership of both its cause and its solution. Don't let the events of your past make you less bold, decisive, or proud. Ultimately, success hinges on your continued self-confidence and your tenacity to stay in this fight we call life. So, when shit happens to you: acknowledge, reflect, adjust, and fire again. Everything else is rounds down range.

Three people are dead after a gunman opened fire in a Florida Dollar General Store before fatally wounding himself on Saturday, Aug. 26. “Plainly put, this shooting was racially motivated, and he hated Black people." A witness outside of the dollar store said the gunman, who reportedly left multiple manifestos, was shooting at cars in the parking lot. Two of the victims are males, according to Waters, and one is female. All of them were Black.
