Twelfth International #Conference on Experimental Vibration Analysis of Civil Engineering Structures – EVACES 2027, to be held in Perugia, Italy. 📌 SS32 — Vibration-based Structural Health Monitoring of Dams. From Sensor Data to Digital Twins Organised by: Nicola Cavalagli, Sérgio Pereira, Flavio Bocchi, Diana Salciarini, Filippo Ubertini This special session explores how vibration-based monitoring can enhance the safety assessment of dams by complementing traditional monitoring systems. It aims to bring together researchers and practitioners working across the entire monitoring chain, from data acquisition and operational modal analysis to numerical modelling, damage diagnosis, and decision support. Emphasis is placed on the integration of monitoring data with advanced modeling techniques, machine learning, and digital twin frameworks to enable more reliable assessment of dam safety and performance. Contributions covering theoretical developments, experimental investigations, and real-world applications on concrete, embankment, and masonry dams are welcomed. 📝 Abstract submission is now open. Abstracts must be written in English, limited to 250 words, and submitted through the official Meteor platform by Springer Nature: Link @Sharif_Geotechnical

#PhD Position in Flow and Transport in Fractured Rocks at Uppsala University We are seeking a highly motivated PhD student for a fully funded 4-year position at Uppsala University, working on flow and transport in fractured rocks. The PhD project will focus on uncertainty quantification in modelling flow and transport in fractured rocks, combining numerical modelling, statistical methods, and uncertainty analysis, with applications to the long-term safety assessment of geological repositories for radioactive waste. 🔹 Starting date: 1 February 2027 or as agreed 🔹 Application deadline: 1 October 2026 For details and application: Link For further information, see the attached PDF. @Sharif_Geotechnical

#PhD #position 3D Stress Modeling & Multiscale Monitoring of Alpine Geohazards (Univ. Salzburg, Austria) The Department of Environment and Biodiversity at the University of Salzburg (Austria) is inviting applications for a fully funded 3-year PhD position (Prae-Doc, 75% / 30h) within the Doctorate School “Dynamic Mountain Environments & Society” (DynamitE Vol. 2). Project Title: CRAG – Critical Infrastructure Risk from Alpine Geohazards (Landslide Hazard Detection through Coupled 3D Stress Modeling and Multiscale Monitoring) About the Project: With climate change accelerating slope instability across mountain regions, this project investigates failure thresholds of rock slopes threatening critical infrastructure. The successful candidate will bridge high-performance numerical 3D stress modeling (Finite Cell Method) with multiscale empirical field monitoring.
