However, its exact function is still being studied.

#GS_FACTS International Coral Reef Initiative (ICRI) 🎯It is a global partnership between nations, international organizations, and non-government organizations to help protect coral reefs and associated ecosystems worldwide . 🎯It was launched in 1994 at the United Nations Global Conference on Sustainable Development of Small Island Developing States in Barbados. 🎯Recenlty it aims to safeguard at least 125,000 square kilometres of shallow-water tropical coral reefs by 2030 with investments of at least US$12 billion.

#GS_FACTS Basohli Pashmina 🔹It is the traditional craft from Jammu and Kashmir's Kathua district. 🔹Recently it has got the Geographical Indication (GI) tag. 🔹This hand spun product famous for its exceptional softness, fineness and feather-like weight. 🔹Pashmina Shawl is made from the fine undercoat of the Changthangi or Pashmina goat. ♦️GI tag is valid for 10 years following which it can be renewed.

#GS_FACTS Staghorn Coral 📍These are branching coral species found in shallow tropical reefs throughout the Caribbean, Gulf of Mexico, and western Atlantic Ocean. 📍It is named for its antler-like branches. 📍IUCN: Endangered. 📍Like many corals, Staghorn Corals have a symbiotic relationship with single-celled algae called zooxanthellae, which live in the polyp tissues. 📍Staghorn Corals are hermaphrodites, so have both male and female reproductive organs; they reproduce in two ways: sexually and asexually.

#GS_FACTS Sela Tunnel 🎯It will be the world’s longest bi-lane tunnel at an altitude above 13,000 feet upon completion. 🎯It provides all-weather connectivity between Guwahati in Assam and Tawang in Arunachal Pradesh. 🎯Sela Tunnel cuts through the Sela–Charbela ridge, which separates the Tawang district from the West Kameng district (Dirang Circle). 🎯It is located 400 metres below the Sela Pass. 🎯Sela Pass is located between the Tawang and West Kameng districts of Arunachal Pradesh. 🎯Sela Pass is the only access to Tawang region. 🎯Sela tunnel is being constructed by the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) under Project Vartak.
