✅ Patients with known osteoporosis can remain on PPI therapy
✅ Concomitant use of PPIs and clopidogrel appears safe
🔷 EGD to screen for Barrett’s esophagus (BE) in patients with risk factors, include:
● Duration of GERD of at least 5 to 10 years
● ± frequent GERD sx (at least weekly)
● + >2 of the following:
• Age ≥ 50 years-old
• Male sex ♂
• White (Caucasian) race
• Hiatal hernia
• Obesity
• Nocturnal reflux 😴
• Tobacco use (past or current) 🚬
• 1st-degree relative with Barrett's esophagus ± adenocarcinoma
🔷 Confirmed Barrett’s esophagus:
🔸 NO dysplasia → EGD every 3-5y
🔸 Dysplasia → Endoscopic Tx
