If I were a mad scientist tasked by the deep state to engineer a molecule specifically designed for the purpose of mind control, to create an army of compliant, apathetic, dumbed down mindless drones who were incapable of critical thinking, much less unifying with one another and resisting a tyrannical, draconian regime that was overthrowing systems of power and stripping away their liberties, all because they were locked into a perpetual state of psychological inertia, I would design this molecule not only to promote a state of chronic, widespread neuroinflammation, but I would also want it to specifically to target the system of neurons which play critical roles in learning, cognition, memory consolidation, healthy processing or traumatic events and fear responses, but which were also necessary for motivational drive curiosity, and maintaining a sense of individual autonomy.
