📌 #vocabulary related to weather
Warm / hot weather
- stifling = hot, uncomfortable, you can hardly breathe
The weather where I live is often stifling these days.
- muggy = very warm and a little damp (damp - slightly wet and not pleasant or comfortable)
It makes me feel dizzy when it's muggy.
- humid = hot and damp, makes you sweat a lot
It's often humid in summer days in my area / county.
In some countries, the weather is stifling, muggy and humid.
- boiling hot = extremely hot
- heatwaves - very hot, dry periods (in Uzbek, the right word is "Garmsel" I guess)
In summer, there may be boiling hot days, and heatwaves may be common.
Common mistake:
The noun "weather" is countable. We say: We had bad weather that day. (NOT We had a bad weather).
