Flasking is the process of investing the cast and a wax replica of the desired form in a flask preparatory to moulding the restorative material into the desired product.
Festooning is defined in the dentistry as carving in the base material of a denture that stimulates the contours of the natural tissues that are being replaced by the denture (GPT8)
Hygroscopic expansion is the tendency of softer inlay waxes to expand during setting in hygroscopic bath at 37.8°(100°F).
The spherical reservoir that is attached to single crown pattern, the purpose of the reservoir is to maintain a molten pool of metal to ensure complete filling of the crown area of the mold cavity.
For the brigde pattern, a runner bar is used as a reservoir.
Curve A represent the thermal expansion of inlay wax as a function of temperature. The expansion rate increases abruptly above approximately 35° C, the temp. at which a change in expansion rate occurs is known as the glass transition temperature.
If the wax is allowed to cool without being placed under pressure, the transition temperature region is not as pronounced when it's reheated, nor is there much change in thermal expansion coefficient (curve B)
Inlay waxes have very low thermal conductivity where as high thermal expansion. The wax may expand as much as 0.7% with the increase in temperature of 20° C or contract as much as 0.35 % when it's cooled from 37° to 25°C. The inlay wax expands and contracts thermally more per degree temperature change than any other dental material. This property is less significant when the wax is used in indirect techniques because the pattern is not subjected to a change from mouth to room temperature
Proton pump inhibitors (PPI)
Class of potent acid suppressant drug
Omeprazole
The PPIs have overtaken H2 blocker for treating acid-peptic disorder.
Lansoprazole, pantoprazole and rabeprazole r the other PPI
