⚠️ Do not try to excel other people with less coding skills on getting better appointments.

Finally! Chrome’s PWAs on macOS are now launching without the Chrome window and dock icon, just like they do on Windows or like Safari does with their *WAs. This is so much more convenient for tools like Squoosh.

Good morning, Europe, and happy iOS 17.4 browser choice day! It’s not a real choice yet since they all are just WebKit in sheep’s clothing for now, but it’s a good start ✨

I can’t believe I’m finally holding the Marcin Wichary’s Shift Happens book in my hands! What a treasure for a keyboard geek like me 🤓

It was a sunny afternoon in Berlin, so I got a chance to try Meta’s Ray-Bans on. You know, the ones with a camera and headphones built-in. They’re not that heavy and hard to spot. How was it? A strong Black Mirror vibe, I’d say.

Some neon beauty in the Letter Museum. Special thanks to @hello_togo_bot for organizing the visit✌️

Found a new home in Berlin and already started moving. Luckily, staying in the same old Friedrichshain. It will take a while, but I’m excited to build my own place from scratch.

Syntax highlighters showing off their support for CSS:
.oh-my {
such: wow;
}
Meanwhile, CSS:
@layer what {
@container (width > 0) {
ul:has(:nth-child(1 of li)) {
@media (height > 0) {
&:hover {
--is: this;
}
}
}
}

The last photo of my bike before the upgrade. This morning, I brought it to 8bar to change the rear wheel from a single-speed hub to a new one with a Shimano Alfine 11-speed hub and a Microshift drop bar shifter. Single-speed is perfect for the city, but I’d like to do some bikepacking this year 🚲

Don’t forget to recycle your neighbor’s Christmas tree into your New Year’s Eve tree.

The highlight of the trip to Tenerife was today’s visit to the Teide Observatory at 2.4 km altitude. Such a magnificent place, with a breathtaking view and a detailed tour 🤓

Spending winter holidays on a tropical island with a bunch of friends for a change. Because last year it was a cabin in Norway woods! 🥶

Now headings on my website are nicely balanced with text-wrap: balance in Firefox, too. Also in Firefox 121: lazy-loading iframes, ✨:has, text-indent on steroids (hanging + each-line), etc.

Look! There’s an old man yelling at HTML semantics. I enjoyed writing this article for the HTMHell advent calendar to get this off my chest. Also…

The road to HTMHell is paved with semantics979
There’s something very nice just landed in Firefox Nightly: Declarative Shadow DOM 😍 It’s probably not the best use case for it, but sure, you can isolate your styles while

Not sure about you, but I’m a bit tired of coding by the end of the year. Let’s build a Mars rover on the last live stream of the year this Sunday, 12:00 Berlin time. Because why not? 🤓
