According to SWIFT (2014) the US dollar dominates as a payment currency for global trade with a 79.5% share of inter-regional currency usage in value. I believe this number understates the importance of USD in Asia. Trades between ASEAN countries is often transacted in USD. In some countries like Cambodia USD is often the currency for commercial transactions.
