Very famous NYC TikTok dad was in Tokyo with his family recently and had a big brain moment when we realized children are very independent in Japan (a very homogenous place with closed borders) He then connected the dots and said kids could be independent bc they, as a society, prioritize kids' safety. In a not-so-subtle way, he made this about gun control and the shooting in Nashville and didn't think deeper about how Japan achieved this level of safety. He probably thinks "diversity is our strength." On top of having a homogeneous society, Japan isn't too keen on "mental health," pharmaceuticals, and prescribing mind-altering medication to their youth.
