On January 11th, ICEERS, in collaboration with the Barcelona Psychedelic Society, will host an informative session on drug interactions. José Carlos Bouso and Genís Oña, from the ICEERS research team, will contribute their extensive experience gained through ICEERS' Interac program, which addresses inquiries about interactions between medicinal plants, conventional medical treatments, and pharmaceuticals. In May ICEERS co-hosted a conference on Shamanism, Science, and Knowledge with the Medical Anthropology Research Centre (MARC) at Rovira i Virgili University. A new study by ICEERS aimed to create Spanish versions of key scales to assess the psychological effects of cannabis. How often do Ayahuasca induced Personal Death (APD) occur? A new study by ICEERS, published in ‘Frontiers in Psychiatry’, examines accounts from 360 participants across various studies, concluding that the prevalence of **these experiences could affect over half of participants in ayahuasca ceremonies. The study emphasizes the frequency, safety, and intensity of death experiences occurring in ayahuasca ceremonies, suggesting that they might be key mechanisms behind the long-term benefits of psychedelics. In 2023, the AyaSafety Integration Training was held for the first time, led by Marc Aixalà and David Londoño. Senator Alejandra Lagunes introduced the Psilocybin Mushrooms Regulation Project to the Mexican Senate. This initiative aims to restore the rights of Indigenous peoples around traditional medicines and encourage research on the therapeutic attributes of these mushrooms. The ICEERS Ayahuasca Defense Fund has been actively involved in the drafting of this legislative reform, which involves amending various Mexican laws. 🍄
