A well-defined radiolucency is seen in the area of the right ramus. No clinical signs, no symptoms. What’s your diagnosis? In this case, the doctor was encouraged to retake the panoramic and was able to bring the patient in the following day for a new image. On the new panoramic, the radiolucency had completely disappeared! What’s going on?! It turns out that while the first panoramic was being taken, the patient had swallowed! This swallowing motion moved the soft palate up and away from the dorsum of the tongue, creating a radiolucent air space which appeared over the right ramus. There was no swallowing during the second panoramic, so the radiolucency β€˜Disappeared.’ #case_study πŸ”ŽπŸ¦·βœ¨ @dental_case_study πŸ”¬ @dent_tech_for_u πŸ“š

The properly positioned overhead light in the patient's reclined position provides the dentist with optimal illumination of the working area, facilitating work and enabling precision in all dental procedures. Additionally, adequate lighting reduces eye strain for the dentist and helps maintain a high level of concentration during treatments.

The Palatine Torus is a benign bone growth located along the midline of the hard palate, which arises from the cortical bone resulting from the accelerated activity of osteoblasts. It has an uncertain etiology, but it is believed to originate from the association between genetic and environmental factors, such as chewing stress. It is considered the most common exostosis within the oral cavity, with a prevalence that varies from 9% to 65%, being twice as common in women, with a peak prevalence in early adult life.

A rubber dam clamp is used to secure the dam to the tooth and isolate the field. At specific crucial areas of contact, the rubber dam clamp must lock onto the tooth. The clamp's primary purpose is to hold the rubber dam in place, which it achieves by acting like a spring just below the height of the tooth's contour. #rubberdam πŸ”ŽπŸ¦·βœ¨ @dental_case_study πŸ”¬ @dent_tech_for_u πŸ“š

Our preference is to use the clamp that suits the case. Winged or wingless. You will need to use a different one depending on the work required. We recommend thinking about what restorative work will be required at the end: matrix bands, wedges etc. Also, think about the space available in relation to the patient's mouth opening and intra-oral periapicals. Use what suits you and use clamps creatively, as many as required, and as needed. #tips πŸ”ŽπŸ¦·βœ¨ @dental_case_study πŸ”¬ @dent_tech_for_u πŸ“š

We’ve come a long way!!! In the early days of dentistry, mechanical chairs were widely used in dental offices. These chairs were operated using wheels and cables, allowing the dentist to adjust the height and position of the chair according to the needs and comfort of the patient. However, these chairs were less flexible and comfortable compared to modern dental chairs used today. Those mechanical chairs were widely used in dentistry during the 19th and early 20th centuries, before being replaced by modern dental chairs.

Cementoblastoma is a rare benign tumor originating from cementoblast cells, the tissue that covers the roots of teeth. This tumor typically grows slowly, and its presence may be asymptomatic or manifest as swelling, pain, or changes in the dental alignment. Although usually benign, monitoring and treatment may be necessary in certain cases, especially if the tumor causes discomfort or exerts pressure on surrounding tissues. Due to its rarity, additional diagnostics and follow-up are crucial in accurately diagnosing and determining appropriate treatment.
