Today is the 30the# anniversary of the #Srebrenica Genocide where 8372+ Bosnian Muslims were executed by Serbian forces, purely because of their faith. Most of them were young men and boys, they were buried in mass graves, and some of there are bodies are still being discovered. May Allah grant them the highest ranks in Jannah and bring their oppressors to justice.

Narrated by Asmāʾ رضي الله عنها, Allāh's Messenger ﷺ said, "Give (in charity) and do not give reluctantly lest Allāh should give you in a limited amount; and do not withhold your money lest Allāh should withhold it from you." [Ṣaḥīḥ al-Bukhārī 2591]

Do not think that Allāh is unaware of what the wrongdoers do. He only delays them for a Day when eyes will stare in horror. [Sūrah ʾIbrāhīm, Verse 42]

🔻Pray for him. May he be resurrected the way he spent the final moments of his life. Daniel Edri, an Israeli war criminal who took part in the genocide in Gaza, took his own life by setting himself on fire in his car near the occupied Palestinian city of Ṣafad. His family said he was suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder after serving with the occupation forces in Lebanon and Gaza. His mother said he would often tell her that he could see flames and smell burning bodies, sometimes waking in the night in violent fits, believing he was back in combat. He had also recently spoken of ending his life.

Narrated Abū Hurayrah رضي الله عنه‎: The Prophet ﷺ said, "If Allāh loves a person, He calls Jibrīl saying, 'Allah loves so and-so; O Jibrīl! Love him.' Jibrīl would love him and make an announcement amongst the inhabitants of the Heaven. 'Allah loves so-and-so, therefore you should love him also,' and so all the inhabitants of the Heaven would love him, and then he is granted the pleasure of the people on the earth." [Ṣaḥīḥ al-Bukhārī 3209]

Sayyid al-Istighfār: The Best Prayer for Seeking Forgiveness Narrated Shaddād ibn Aws رضي الله عنه: The Prophet (ﷺ) said "The most superior way of asking for forgiveness from Allāh is: اللهم أنت ربي، لا إله إلا أنت ، خلقتني وأنا عبدك، وأنا على عهدك ووعدك ما استطعت أعوذ بك من شر ما صنعت أبوء لك بنعمتك علي، وأبوء بذنبي، فاغفر لي فإنه لا يغفر الذنوب إلا أنت The Prophet (ﷺ) added. "If somebody recites it during the day with firm faith in it, and dies on the same day before the evening, he will be from the people of Paradise; and if somebody recites it at night with firm faith in it, and dies before the morning, he will be from the people of Paradise." [Ṣaḥīḥ al-Bukhārī 6306] Transliteration: Allāhumma anta rabbī, lā ilāha illā anta, khalaqtanī wa-anā ʿabduka, wa-anā ʿalā ʿahdika wa-waʿdika mā’istaṭaʿtu, aʿūdhu bika min sharri mā ṣanaʿtu abūʾu laka bi-niʿmatika ʿalayy, wa-abūʾu laka bidhanbī, fa’ighfir lī fa-innahu lā yaghfir al-dhunūba illā ant Translation: O Allāh, You are my Lord, there is no God but You. You created me and I am Your servant, and I abide by Your covenant and promise (to honour it) as best as I can. I seek refuge in You from the evil that I have committed. I acknowledge Your favor upon me, and I acknowledge my sin, so forgive me, for surely none can forgive sins but You.

Jābir ibn ʿAbd Allāh رضي الله عنه reported Allāh's Messenger ﷺ as saying: “Be on your guard against committing oppression, for oppression is a darkness on the Day of Resurrection, and be on your guard against stinginess for stinginess destroyed those who were before you, as it incited them to shed blood and make lawful what was unlawful for them.” [Ṣaḥīḥ Muslim 2578]

While performing in Abu Dhabi, Dave Chappelle blasted DJ Khaled for staying silent on the genocide in Gaza. During his set, someone in the crowd shouted DJ Khaled’s name, and Chappelle didn’t hold back: “DJ Khaled, let me tell you something. For a Palestinian, this man is awfully quiet right now. And as a Palestinian, how could you be that quiet right now? And why are you so fat? People are starving. He’s the only fat Palestinian on Earth right now..” Chappelle has been one of the few major voices speaking out. Last year in Abu Dhabi, he called Israel’s assault on Gaza a “genocide” receiving cheers from the crowd.

Abū Hurayrah رضي الله عنه reported Allāh's Messenger ﷺ as saying: “Avoid suspicion, for suspicion is the gravest lie in talk and do not be inquisitive about one another and do not spy upon one another and do not feel envy with the other, and nurse no malice, and nurse no aversion and hostility against one another. And be fellow-brothers and servants of Allāh.” [Ṣaḥīḥ Muslim 2563a]

Abū Hurayrah رضي الله عنه reported Allāh's Messenger ﷺ as saying: Do you know who is poor? They (the Companions of the Prophet ﷺ) said: A poor man amongst us is one who has neither dirham with him nor wealth. He ﷺ replied: The poor of my Ummah would be he who would come on the Day of Resurrection with prayers and fasts and Zakat but (he would find himself bankrupt on that day as he would have exhausted his funds of virtues) since he hurled abuses upon others, brought calumny against others and unlawfully consumed the wealth of others and shed the blood of others and beat others, and his virtues would be credited to the account of one (who suffered at his hand). And if his good deeds fall short to clear the account, then his sins would be entered in (his account) and he would be thrown in the Hell-Fire. [Ṣaḥīḥ Muslim 2581]

Saturday 5th July is the Day of ʿĀshūrāʾ. The Prophet ﷺ said: "I seek from Allāh that fasting on the day of ʿĀshūrāʾ may atone for the sins of the preceding year." [Ṣaḥīḥ Muslim 1163a]

Narrated ʿAbd Allāh ibn Masʿūd رضي الله عنه: The Prophet ﷺ said, "Whoever slaps his face or tears the bosom of his dress, or calls the calls of the Period of Ignorance, is not from us." [Ṣaḥīḥ al-Bukhārī 3519]

Israeli occupation forces killed three men on Wednesday after intervening to protect occupiers during a violent assault on a Palestinian town near Ramallah in the occupied West Bank. The incident began at around 7pm when over 50 Israeli occupiers descended on Kafr Malik, east of Ramallah. They set fire to parts of three homes and completely torched four vehicles. As residents gathered to confront the attackers, the occupation forces stormed the town and began firing live ammunition. Three men were killed and at least seven others were wounded. In a separate incident, a 15-year-old boy was killed by the Israeli occupation forces in the northern West Bank town of Al-Yamoun amid a surge of violence and near-daily confrontations between occupiers and Palestinians.

O Allāh, in this sacred month of Muḥarram, just as You saved Mūsa عليه السلام and his people from tyranny, save our oppressed brothers and sisters around the world. Ya Rabb, You are the Protector of the weak, the Helper of the broken, and the Answerer of the desperate—grant victory to the oppressed in Palestine, Sudan, Kashmir, Yemen, and every land where justice is denied. Let the lessons of Mūsa عليه السلام teach us courage, and the patience of the oppressed teach us humility. Do not let us be silent in the face of injustice. Let our hearts remain firm upon truth, and our hands be used to bring relief. Ameen.

On 18th June, a 55-year-old mother of five was violently attacked on a New York subway after she was asked, "Are you Muslim?" while she was wearing the hijab and listening to the Qurʾān. The man then began to punch and kick her repeatedly, hitting her in the head, neck, and face. The assault only stopped when the train reached the next station, and bystanders, along with the conductor, called the police. The Muslim woman suffered a fractured nasal bone, a fractured orbital bone, and substantial pain, bruising, and swelling. The suspect fled, but two women and the conductor helped flag him down for the police. Officers arrested 34-year-old Naved Durni and charged him with hate crime assault.

Today marks the 1st of Muḥarram, which means it is the beginning of the new Islamic year. The start of the Islamic calendar was set by ʿUmar ibn al-Khaṭṭāb رضي الله عنه, who based the first year when the Prophet ﷺ migrated (made Hijrah) from Makkah to Madīnah. It is now 1447 years since the Prophet ﷺ's migration to Madīnah, however the date of the Hijrah is not linked with the 1st of Muḥarram. Al-Muḥarram [ٱلْمُحَرَّم] means forbidden, it is one of the months when fighting is forbidden. Narrated Abū Hurayrah رضي الله عنه: The Prophet ﷺ said, “The most excellent fast after Ramaḍān is Allāhs month, al-Muḥarram, and the most excellent prayer after what is prescribed is prayer during the night.” [Ṣaḥīḥ Muslim 1163a]
