REMINDER - Its sunnah to fast on Mondays: Deeds are presented on Monday and Thursday, and I love that my deeds be presented while I am fasting [Tirmidhi] The gates of Paradise are not opened but on two days, Monday and Thursday, and then every servant (of Allah) is granted pardon who does not associate anything with Allah except the person in whose (heart) there is rancour against his brother. [Muslim] Abu Qatada Ansari رضي الله عنه reported that Allah's Messenger ﷺ was asked about fasting on Monday, whereupon he said: It is (the day) when I was born and revelation was sent down to me. [Muslim]

Abu Huraira رضي الله عنه reported Allah's Messenger ﷺ as saying: Do you know who is poor? They (the Companions of the Prophet ﷺ) said: A poor man amongst us is one who has neither dirham with him nor wealth. He ﷺ replied: The poor of my Ummah would be he who would come on the Day of Resurrection with prayers and fasts and Zakat but (he would find himself bankrupt on that day as he would have exhausted his funds of virtues) since he hurled abuses upon others, brought calumny against others and unlawfully consumed the wealth of others and shed the blood of others and beat others, and his virtues would be credited to the account of one (who suffered at his hand). And if his good deeds fall short to clear the account, then his sins would be entered in (his account) and he would be thrown in the Hell-Fire. [Sahih Muslim 2581]

O Allah! I seek refuge with You from cowardice, and seek refuge with You from miserliness, and seek refuge with You from reaching a degraded geriatric old age, and seek refuge with You from the afflictions of the world and from the punishment in the grave [Bukhari]
