It was requested that I share a PDF of all the prayers from the 30 Days of Prayer/Read Psalm 91 Challenge back in July. There are two versions: one with colored fonts and graphics and one that is printer-ready-plain. I apologize for the delay. I was busy eating cookies. And taking naps. I probably got a homeschooling lesson in here or there, too. Read and pray in good health and sweet joy!

Lord, in these foggy, fuzzy days with so much happening and so many feelings on usually not enough rest, help us to attend to Your Word: to read it, and understand it, and get everything out of these moments that You want us to.

As a father has compassion on his children, so the Lord has compassion on those who fear Him; for He knows how we are formed, He remembers that we are dust. The life of mortals is like grass, they flourish like a flower of the field; the wind blows over it and it is gone, and its place remembers it no more. But from everlasting to everlasting the Lord’s love is with those who fear Him, and His righteousness with their children’s children -with those who keep His covenant and remember to obey His precepts Psalm 103:13-18

From the archives: It never ceases to amaze me how God puts things in our paths to solidify or scatter an idea or a plan. This past week we’ve been mulling over a theme for our lives, the divine gift that allows us to notice things others might miss, and obedience to and trust in Him. I just finished reading, "The Deceitfulness of Sin," an article recently written by Mike Raliff, a survivor from the Oklahoma City Federal Center bombing. He pulled me in with his opening statement, "It is not very costly to profess Christ. Anyone can do that. Christianity becomes costly when the professing Christian stands and does not fall away in the face of persecution or pressure to conform to some position or stance that is clearly opposed in some way to God’s clear commands found in His Word." A few sentences later, I was unsure where he was heading. However, he brought it all together, in a powerful and comprehensible way. It just takes a few minutes to read the article. For those not inclined to do so, here are a few points that got my attention: “… We must fight the good fight against all of the lies that we encounter that are intended to deceive us into compromise…” “… I also learned that I was a Christian by the grace of God not because of my religiosity. I also learned that God expects His people to live for His glory alone in obedience to Him in all things…” “… He takes a heart that is totally unable to believe or pursue God and changes it so that is no longer dead in trespasses and sins. It can now believe and repent and does so. Genuine Christians are regenerate. They have faith, a gift from God that is alive. This faith believes God and will pursue Him forever. God will preserve these forever. They will not revolt and fall away…” https://mikeratliff.wordpress.com/2022/03/05/the-deceitfulness-of-sin/

4 of 4 In any good and worthy relationship people understand when something is amiss, when something weighs and presses. That’s how it is with the LORD. We don’t owe Him an explanation for feeling the way we do. We don’t have to excuse or apologize. Rejection doesn’t just hurt; it steals our perspicacity. The only way to stop the cutting is to simply seek Him, sit down, and enjoy His company, welcoming one healing breath after another as we sit contentedly with Him. Can you imagine sitting next to Him? Would you need to talk? Or do you just want to sit quietly in His presence?

3 of 4 Later that night, an image popped in my head. I imagined Jesus sitting on a concrete curb, His cream-colored robes billowing around Him. I walked up to Him, the hood on my light blue hoodie pulled up, my hands stuffed in the pockets. I sat down next to Him. We were silent for a bit. Looking down at the grass protruding from the pavement, He finally said: “Rough day, huh?” “Yeah,” I quietly replied. My imaginary self had approached Him with quiet reservation and knotted apprehension, but I instinctively knew I wanted to be next to Him even if we never exchanged words. As I sat there with Him, appreciating the quietude, the hardness and dreadfulness eased. In my real world, I also began to feel the heaviness and intensity lift. There’s no other way to describe it: He truly is our Comfort.

2 of 4 As I drove home after a meeting, I felt like I had just sat through something incredibly grueling and torturous and demoralizing. My emotions were bouncing all over as I trudged and teetered through the smothering thoughts. Oh bless the LORD He was so patient with me as I silently wailed and bemoaned and protested! I told Him how alone I felt, how used and discarded I was. I told Him how much I was not appreciated and I said I wanted to throw myself a pity-party –albeit a brief one. I lamented, He listened. When I was rendered speechless, dumbfounded by the behavior I had witnessed, I could sense His tranquil and soothing presence fill the bumps and gaps and yucky corners in my mind. No condemnation. No pointing out that I had nothing to complain about. He didn’t tell me what I was feeling was silly or irrelevant or that the issues were petty. He just gave me His reassuring closeness.

1 of 4 The discomfort and apprehension from a sweet friend as she faces a painful situation with her parents has been a constant hum in my mind over the last few days. The little girl in me grieves for the little girl in her. When our family rejects us it feels like an extra little kind of hurtiness doesn’t it? But, what about all the other sources of rejection? The workplace and church, and the schooly stuff and our neighbors. We even get it from total strangers! What are we to do with it? The most obvious answer is we give it to God. But, if the solution is that apparent, then why do we continue to hurt? Feel anger and resentment? Allow it to steam and stew in our minds? Maybe we don’t know the unseeable sway rejection has on us. A text there and a verbal response here. An email, a letter, a phone call. A facial expression. Rejection is really death by a thousand cuts.
