When There’s Conflict – part 3
If your source is not providing you with solid facts or satisfying answers for beliefs that seem contrary to your own (and it’s not antithetical to God) look for other people who feel the same way they do. Also look for people who believe differently. Yes, it’s a lot of work, however the reward is: 1) walking away better informed; 2) becoming even more passionate about your belief; or 3) having your mind changed for the better.
Is it possible that God is calling some people to vote? Is it possible that God is calling some people to become a poll watcher, a precinct committeeperson or a party leader? Is it possible that God is calling some people not to vote? Is it possible that God is calling some people to concentrate their talents and passions elsewhere? Is it possible for God to work His plans in ways that don’t fit our idea of how something should be accomplished and when we think it should be completed? Can we understand why some folks say they will always vote, and why some folks say they will abstain from voting? Both sides have valid explanations for their reasoning. Neither side has the right to tell you what you ought to do. What does God want you to do? Following His will for your life is what counts.
What I hope all of us object to is someone who commands we believe the way they do. I hope we stay clear of those who state that if we don’t believe the way they do that we are unpatriotic or ungodly or fools. Finally, I hope some folks realize that what really matters is saving children, saving our union, and most importantly saving souls. After all, we will have nothing left worth living for if we don’t reconcile our hearts to God…

When There’s Conflict – part 2
The latest tumult is those who believe citizens should vote versus those who believe citizens shouldn’t vote. This discussion is invoking strong reactions from both sides.
I’m going to suggest something that I believe will be of benefit. In this scenario, don’t feel anything –one way or the other; for or against. Removing our long-held beliefs, removing our initial gut reactions, removing our emotions will allow us to closely examine an issue worth serious consideration.
When someone proposes something unusual, remarkable, curious (and it’s not antithetical to God) I try to temporarily pause my emotions. Then I look at the source of the proposal. The second thing I do is ask the superstar of all questions: why? Why are they proposing this? Why are they saying this? Why do they feel the need to share their belief with others?
Likewise, when someone has an opposing point of view or someone suggests following the status-quo (and it’s not antithetical to God), I look at the source of the suggestion, asking the same questions: why are they proposing this? Why are they saying this? Why do they feel the need to share their belief with others?
Understanding who the source is will reduce much of my concern straightaway. So what happens when the source is someone we respect stating something that gives us pause? We can research.

When There’s Conflict – part 1
Last week I posted some tips on honing our research skills. One of those tips was, “Sometimes this means going out of our comfort zone for a bit.” Doing this does not mean that we need to step out of God’s boundaries; it means we sometimes have to really consider, delve deeper even, into someone else’s viewpoint. (We can safely do this without shattering our moral compass or subjecting ourselves to offensive materials.)
When we disagree with someone it can be an opportunity for us to examine our own beliefs. When we investigate, we may find our perceptions have been based on erroneous evidence or skewed sensitivities. Or by digging deeper, we may find our beliefs strengthened. Either way, it’s a chance to improve our intellectual and spiritual abilities.
Disagreements also give us cause to examine what really matters. Is it necessary to debate someone over what amounts to be just a personal preference? Is it necessary to challenge someone’s opinion? Is it essential we rectify someone’s oversight, gaffe, lapse in judgement, belief?
How do we know when a situation calls for our intervention? No doubt you are familiar with the saying, “Will this matter in a week? A month? A year?” A simple, but acute question that cuts through the noise and quickly helps us decipher the meaningless from the meaningful.

As mentioned recently, when someone puts out a video, a post or a comment to share their point of view, they make themselves vulnerable to censure. The poster cannot predict nor preclude the mood of the receiver.
There’s been something weighing on my mind the last couple of weeks, and I’ve hesitated sharing it because on the surface, it pertains to a controversial subject. At its heart, however is a message that’s been pivotal in changing my perspective to be more in line with God’s. And for that reason I will work on getting my thoughts down in the hopes it might be relatable and helpful for some.
Until then, I want to cover the latest uproar circling Telegram.

Lay Down Your Expectations. Easier said than done, right? I know I personally have had many expectations, and none of them turned out the way I thought it would or should go in my life. But then that’s when I need to remember God’s faithfulness and his timing NEVER fails. My pain and your pain is NEVER wasted. He is still writing my story, and your story.
When the people saw that Moses delayed to come down from the mountain, the people gathered themselves together to Aaron and said to him, “Up, make us gods who shall go before us.” - Exodus 32:1
400 years. That’s how long the Israelites waited for God to deliver them from slavery. But after they left Egypt, God didn’t take them directly to Canaan. Instead, they camped at the base of a mountain while God instructed Moses.
But after 40 days, the Israelites grew frustrated. Their delayed expectations led to poor decisions: they rejected God and pursued whatever pleased them.
If you’ve ever felt frustrated by an uncertain season that lasts longer than you anticipated, you’re not alone. We can become so focused on our disappointments that we forget God is still in control. That’s why it’s important to remember that your waiting is never wasted.
Even though the Israelites couldn’t see it at the time, God wasn’t withholding His promises from them—He was preparing them for it.
So, if you find yourself weary from waiting, do what the Israelites forgot to do: look for evidence of God’s presence, and look back on what He’s already done. God’s timeline may be different than yours, but His faithfulness doesn’t waver. Your waiting might be preparing you for the plans and purposes God has for you.
Reflection Questions:
What have you held onto that you know you need to surrender?
In what ways has God been faithful in your life?
What might God be trying to show you in your current season?
“Cast your burden on the Lord, And He shall sustain you; He shall never permit the righteous to be moved.”
Psalms 55:22 NKJV
“and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.”
Philippians 4:7 NKJV
“The Lord your God in your midst, The Mighty One, will save; He will rejoice over you with gladness, He will quiet you with His love, He will rejoice over you with singing.””
Zephaniah 3:17 NKJV
“I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will guide you with My eye.”
Psalms 32:8 NKJV
“God is our refuge and strength, A very present help in trouble.”
Psalms 46:1 NKJV
“Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
Romans 8:37-39 NKJV
“Be strong and of good courage, do not fear nor be afraid of them; for the Lord your God, He is the One who goes with you. He will not leave you nor forsake you.””
Deuteronomy 31:6 NKJV
“There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves torment. But he who fears has not been made perfect in love.”
I John 4:18 NKJV
“being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ;”
Philippians 1:6 NKJV

More and more facts about the January 6 peaceful rally are being released. We’ve learned that Trump had offered Pelosi and Washington, D.C. Mayor Bowser up to 10k National Guard troops to be available, but was ignored. Video footage has been released showing police officers waving people in to the building. Kash Patel, chief of staff to then-acting Defense Secretary Chris Miller stated that, "Speaker Pelosi's worry on Jan 6 when she called me and the Secretary of Defense, after Ashli Babbitt was shot –within the hour after her shooting ... She asked the Secretary of Defense and I what time congressional food services was going to reopen so that her members could eat.” Though many of us have been aware of these facts for some time, the information is being revealed to an ignorant public. A good question to ask. Who exactly is releasing this information and why hasn’t the Deep State been able to suppress it?
