If You Can Believe
Mark 11:23
Jesus said to him, “If you can believe, all things are possible to him who believes.”
We read the story in 2 Kings chapter 6, about Elisha and the sons of the prophets who came to him asking if they could go to the Jordan and build a larger place for themselves to dwell. He consented, and they then asked Elisha to come with them.
As they were cutting down trees at the Jordan to make beams, an iron ax head fell into the water. The one from whose ax it fell cried out to the Prophet Elisha "Alas, master! For it was borrowed."
You can just see the one who lost the ax head's face fall and his heart sink.
But, he then does something important.
Instead of jumping into the water, or fishing around for the ax head, or going to tell all his friends about his misfortune, - he immediately tells the man of God. He didn't think "oh, its just an ax head, I guess I'll have to replace it," or try to solve the problem himself.
The Prophet Elisha walked in the miraculous, and the sons of the prophets would have known and seen this.
I don't think the one who dropped the ax head could have known what the outcome would be, but he knew enough to go to the man of God FIRST. He looked for a supernatural answer to an earthly problem.
What did Jesus tell us? “If you can believe, (bold mine) all things are possible to him who believes.”
ALL things?
Things happen in our lives. Things go wrong or break or fall apart. This is not the problem. What matters is our response to the problem.
So the man of God said, “Where did it fall?” And he showed him the place. So he cut off a stick, and threw it in there; and he made the iron float. (Italics mine). Therefore he said, “Pick it up for yourself.” So he reached out his hand and took it. (2 Kings 6: 6-7).
How much turmoil would we avoid, if we would stop and go to God first? Is the Holy Spirit not our helper? What then is our part?
Ask, believe, receive.
I believe we read of these accounts in the Bible to help us understand that all things are possible with God, and to reach out for the miraculous in our lives also.
Holy Spirit, I ask for, believe, and receive the help I need. I receive iron that floats, because You are not bound by natural laws. I ask for the grace to be open to Your miraculous provision, even if my mind cannot comprehend it. I refuse to continue trying to solve things my own way, and instead ask for Your help. Through Your grace, I believe in and receive Your provision. In Jesus name, Amen.

A friend shared this with me today after I posted about kindness.
I’ve heard the question, “What does being cost you?”
Perhaps a better question is, “What does not being kind cost you?”
Choose kindness.

Good morning!
I’ve been with my Mom for a few days now. She’s making significant progress, and I’m grateful I get to witness it and I’m proud of her for not giving up.
My mom, my brother and I are stepping into a new season. It’s full of tears, melancholy and scary unknowns.
But, it’s also full of hope and new beginnings. And countless chances to stretch one’s faith.
Above all, God is ever present, actively moving on our behalf. How precious it is we can have beautiful expectations fulfilled.

In peace I will both lie down and sleep; for you alone, O LORD, make me dwell in safety.

Y'all are so precious!
You are so very loved by your Creator! Everything about you is one-of-a-kind, hand-picked by God.
You were made purposefully, brought forth out of agape love, set apart because He is devoted to you!
You ought to have a Good Day knowing how the Most High chose you first 💜

Someone posted this in Comedy Wednesday weeks ago. The vests looked so familiar at first then I remembered: I wore one, too!

I did start the day singing this song, and boy howdy did our enemy ever throw things into my path today to try my patience! It's a choice. Every day, every hour -and for some of us, every minute- we get to choose how to react.
We can choose to cling to fear or to hope.
We can choose to give in to our initial frustration or take a deep breath.
We can choose to feel wronged or see something from another perspective.
We can choose to follow our emotions or follow Jesus.
After taking it to the Lord -all of it- the second best thing I like to do is laugh. It's God's medicine after all 😊

I kicked off January trying some new things. It's been exciting!
Now, I am going to start my day humming this song. And I'm asking God to remind me of this song when people and things and events try to bring me down. Turn it around.
We're about to have a Good Day!
