We can dig our toes in the sand, feel the wind on our face, soak up the sun. The robin sings to us, the squirrel entertains us, the bee pollinates for us. The spider weaves works of art, the ant builds a tiny village, the ladybug is a colorful speck. The butterfly flutters, the hummingbird squeaks, the caterpillar inches. We sing a customary song for birthdays. We rejoice over the Savior’s birth and resurrection. We carve the turkey and count our blessings. We cuddle in February and sparkle in July. We cradle babies, we cheerlead our kids, we graduate our teens. We bring food for the potluck, the parade, the party. We help our friends, neighbors, strangers. We errand, travel and chore. We remember the good, appreciate the health, cherish the long-lasting friendships. We pray. We praise. We honor. We humble. All these things. And all the wonderful, little tiny things that happened that fall through the memory cracks. This is the life He portions. The life He sculpts. The life He blesses. For us. Just for us.

God gives us life. He knit us together in our mother’s womb and put the air in our lungs. God gives us life. The blood of Christ saves, empowers, overcomes. God gives us life. He gives eternity with Him for those who accept. But, how many of us neglect appreciating that He gave us life?

Mixed emotions. It's hard for the mind to process the crazy, the hypocrisy, the apathy -some words that could apply to our big trial. But, I could also apply: grace, mercy, generosity, kindness, humbleness, gratitude, love. Just want to share with those of you who have been with us since the beginning. More importantly, it’s a reminder of life.

I was working on some writing last week when Felix brought the mail in, placing it on the desktop between us. I'm not usually interested in what comes in, however a certain hospital's logo caught my eye. And normally I would assume that logo was related to one of his recent office visits. But, something made me grab it, open it. It was the final bill for Felix's first hospital stay.

Shannon invites us to her book club. Today we start reading Anne of Green Gables. We'd love to meet you over there, a group that she describes as, "... low key and a little nerdy."

I know many of you have the love of reading, the love of owning books, as I do. This is what the twins and I have read since May. The twins especially were exposed to excellent writing, and are improved reading these kind of stories. I would encourage my friends to challenge themselves to reading the classics, too. Step away from the undignifiednesses* of this world, and explore the simple, but splendid pleasures of fictional adventures. *New word = cookie

Jesus always had great questions for His disciples when they came to Him with their questions. He made them think!! Even though we don’t think so, God always prepares us for what’s ahead of us. My family lost everything in Hurricane Katrina, except our lives. But God sent angels dressed as good Samaritans to help us get through. So now, we help others in our community, whenever and wherever we see a need…. The local pregnancy resource center… the prison… our next door neighbor… We didn’t become bitter because we lost everything. In looking at us now, we became better.. more compassionate... less needy… more grateful for everything and anything. The horrors that are happening to children in this world, has been happening since sin came in the form of a lying snake. That snake hates children because they are created in God’s image… all the liar can do is steal, kill, and destroy.. So TM, it’s exactly what you suggested! Look around where you are and be the answer to someone’s prayer. After Elijah prayed down fire to silence the prophets of Baal, one loud mouthed woman named Jezebel sent him into a pit of despair until he wanted to die. That’s exactly what the god of darkness and fear would like us all to do… curl up and die! We may not ‘feel’ like doing anything, but the moment we say to the Lord, here I am, send me, He will step into your tunnel vision of despair and light up the next step for you. Ask Him who you should call to pray for you. I guarantee that the prayers of my friends have pulled me out of the darkest times I have ever experienced. May we all believe the precious words of Jesus, that He will never leave us or forsake us. He’s the same yesterday, today, and FOREVER. And He died FOR us and left this earth so He could prepare a place in heaven for each of us. And lastly, He is coming back to get us!! What a glorious day that will be! Hold on friends! He hasn’t forgotten about you! He hasn’t lost anybody and He never will! Somebody in your sphere of influence needs Jesus, and He may be sending you to be the hands, feet, and heart of Jesus for them! ❤️
