📖"I can’t go back to yesterday because I was a different person then..." . On May 4, 1852, Alice Liddel, prototype of Alice from "Alice's Adventures in Wonderland" was born. She was born in Westminster, but in 1856 her family moved to Oxford where they met a young perspective matematican Charles Lutwidge Dodgson (in future Lewis Carroll). He used to take photos of Liddel sisters and composed fairy tales, includinjg that about a girl that fell down a rabbit hole, Facts about Alice: 1. Her world follows dream logic, not rules Wonderland operates on nonsense logic—things constantly change size, time behaves strangely, and language twists meaning. This reflects how dreams work, which is why the story feels both magical and slightly unsettling. 2. She’s unusually brave for a child protagonist Unlike many children in fiction of that era, Alice questions authority figures like the Queen and challenges absurd rules. She doesn’t just react—she argues, analyzes, and pushes back. 3. The story helped shape modern fantasy The book Alice's Adventures in Wonderland broke away from moral-heavy Victorian children’s literature. Instead of teaching a lesson, it embraced imagination, absurdity, and play—something that influenced generations of fantasy writers. 4. Her size changes are symbolic Alice constantly grows and shrinks, which many interpret as a metaphor for childhood itself—feeling too big, too small, or out of place in a confusing adult world. 📖NEW 2026 E-BOOKS ON LAW ARRIVED TO LRC. An Introduction to Legal Reasoning. The book explains legal reasoning as a dynamic process grounded in case law, where judges interpret statutes and constitutional principles by comparing current cases with prior decisions. Law and the Built Environment is a core textbook for all students undertaking compulsory law modules in construction, real estate, and property management programs of study. In Your Data Will Be Used Against You, Andrew Guthrie Ferguson warns us of how the rise of sensor-driven technology, social media monitoring, and artificial intelligence can be weaponized against democratic values and personal freedoms. Commercial Insurance Law. This edited volume explores key developments in commercial insurance law, examining both doctrinal issues and their relationship with real-world market practice. It also addresses emerging trends, offering a contemporary perspective on how insurance law is evolving in response to legal, technological, and global changes. The Criminal Law Handbook demystifies the criminal justice system for non-lawyers. It explains—in plain English—how the criminal system works, why police, lawyers, and judges do what they do, and what you can expect if you end up involved in the system. Covering all the major and commonly used building contracts, Building Contract Claims considers the legal basis of building contract claims and shows what can and cannot be claimed, providing the contractor, employers and their advisors with a simple, concise, and effective source of information for use when preparing, submitting, or dealing with a claim. 📖FAKE COAUTHORSHIP. SECRETS OF SCIENTIFIC FRAUD. A recent Nature article uncovers the hidden marketplace of academic fraud, where authorship on scientific papers is openly sold. By analyzing thousands of online advertisements from so-called “paper mills,” researchers reveal a global system in which individuals can buy co-authorship or even full authorship on research papers, often without contributing any real work. The data expose pricing structures, negotiation tactics, and the scale of this shadow economy. Costs vary depending on factors such as journal prestige, authorship position, and field of study. These findings provide rare insight into how fraudulent research outputs are produced and marketed, highlighting the industrialized nature of scientific misconduct. Importantly, the study offers tools for combating the problem. By mapping patterns in these advertisements, journals and institutions may better detect suspicious submissions and disrupt paper mills. The article underscores a growing challenge for global science: maintaining research integrity in the face of increasingly sophisticated and commercialized fraud.
