🏦 Coinbase Suspends Staking Services In Some Locations Eager SEC Lawsuits Coinbase has officially written that, on June 6, 10 US states have initiated lawsuits related to the platform’s staking service. The vast majority of the exchange’s customers are unaffected. Still, the exchange has requested restrictions on its retail mortgage services pending the completion of proceedings in California, New Jersey, and South America. Carolina and Wisconsin. Restricting staking will not benefit local residents. It will only limit these residents from participating in and benefiting from the crypto economy. “Four of the states – CA, NJ, SC, and WI – have required restrictions to our retail staking services before their state proceedings are complete, even though our staking services have been available safely and transparently for years.” The exchange also asserts that almost all significant blockchains today rely on staking because it is open, secure, and environmentally friendly. Americans in every state deserve the same economic and technological opportunities. The SEC filed a lawsuit against Coinbase last month, classifying its staking service, as well as some of the tokens it lists as securities. That same day, securities authorities in ten states began proceedings on this crypto exchange. Since then, the largest cryptocurrency exchange in the US has always taken action to deny all accusations of this regulator. Source https://t.me/Blockchain_Explained

💰 Ripple’s XRP Takes The 4th Largest Cryptocurrency Position Of BNB After Over 2 Years Ripple has achieved its first victory
💰 Ripple’s XRP Takes The 4th Largest Cryptocurrency Position Of BNB After Over 2 Years Ripple has achieved its first victory in its protracted legal battle against the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), leading to a surge in the value of its cryptocurrency, XRP. As a result, Ripple’s XRP has now overtaken Binance’s native token, BNB, in the crypto market cap rankings. The courtroom victory came as the District Court for the Southern District of New York ruled that XRP sales through secondary markets were not considered securities. This decision provided a major boost to Ripple and its cryptocurrency. XRP climbed into the fourth position in terms of market capitalization, trailing behind only Tether (USDT), Ether (ETH), and Bitcoin (BTC). However, it’s important to note that the court also deemed Ripple’s direct sale of XRP to institutions and other parties as a violation of securities laws. The SEC filed a lawsuit against Ripple in late 2020, accusing the company of selling unregistered securities after it sold $1.3 billion worth of XRP. This legal action resulted in several exchanges delisting XRP and created a challenging environment for the cryptocurrency. Despite these setbacks, the recent ruling has breathed new life into XRP and sparked a surge in its value. Source https://t.me/Blockchain_Explained

💰 Ondo Finance To Launch Tokenized Product On Layer 2 Polygon Network With the assistance of Polygon Labs, Ondo Finance, an Ethereum-based asset management, is expanding its market in order to foster more acceptance of tokenized financial products inside DeFi. By expanding to Polygon, Ondo hopes to make its first foray outside of the Ethereum mainnet after being the first company to tokenize US Treasury bonds in February. As the Ethereum foundation layer approaches capacity, transaction fees rise, and Ondo claims that this recent change would reduce those costs. According to a news statement released Thursday, the company has launched its OUSG token, a tokenized version of BlackRock’s short-term US government bond exchange-traded fund (ETF), natively on Polygon as part of a “strategic relationship.” Ondo President and Chief Operational Officer Justin Schmidt stated in an interview that the company aims to introduce its future yield-generating stablecoin alternative, OMMF, as well as the Ondo-developed decentralized lending marketplace Flux Finance, to Polygon pending governance clearance. The development coincides with an increase in investor interest in tokenized versions of conventional financial products like US Treasurys since bond yields have outpaced rates in decentralized finance (DeFi) lending markets. 📣 Ribbon Finance Wants To Merge Into Aevo With A New Exclusive Brand Name Ribbon Finance, a structured product on the blockchain, has announced a new proposal in which it intends to combine with Aevo, making Aevo the exclusive brand name and restructuring governance and token economics. The particular content comprises the abolition of the old token RBN and the introduction of a new token AEVO. Ribbon’s goods will be integrated into Aevo’s structured product suite in the future, and the original RBN tokens will be swapped for AEVO at a 1:1 ratio. The goal is for Aevo to become the greatest spot on-chain for derivatives. This comprises exchange-traded options and perpetual contracts, as well as over-the-counter derivatives contracts and structured products, which include both passive (vaults) and active (options) products. Aevo aims to become a DeFi super-app by integrating Ribbon and Aevo, offering perpetual options, and yield products all under one roof. Under the same interface, users will be able to browse between Aevo exchange, OTC, and structured items. Crucially, this gets us one step closer to immediately putting structured goods on the Aevo rollup, therefore enabling synergies between the exchange and vaults. 📣 Layer 2 Linea Mainnet Alpha To Launch Next Week, Officially Competing With L2s Consensys, the leading Ethereum development company, is set to deploy the mainnet alpha of its Linea network next week, increasing competition inside Ethereum’s Layer 2 ecosystem. The network, according to Consensys, intends to provide a cost-effective option for Ethereum application developers and consumers, with transaction costs up to 15 times lower than Ethereum Layer 1. It is completely compatible with Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) bytecode and connects with Ethereum’s current development tools. Linea is a Layer 2 chain that is interoperable with Ethereum applications and uses ZK-Rollups for scalability. Its launch follows a successful testnet period in which Linea got tremendous user interest, becoming one of the biggest active projects on the Goerli testnet. 5.2 million distinct wallets participated during this period, completing almost 41 million transactions in only three months, but many of them may be considered airdrop farmers. The alpha mainnet stage of Linea delivers a better user experience as well as an ecosystem of over 100 protocols, partners, and decentralized apps. The network will be used by the Consensys-owned self-custody web3 wallet MetaMask, as well as additional developer tools such as Infura, Diligence, and Hyperledger Besu. 🆘 Arcadia Finance Loses $455K In Ethereum And Optimism Hack Arcadia Finance’s DeFi protocol resulted in a loss of approximately $455,000. The blockchain investigator PeckShield who alerted about the hack, pointed out that the root cause of the hack was “the lack of untrusted input validation”. The hacker exploited this loophole to drain funds worth roughly $455,000 from Ethereum (darcWETH) and Optimism (darcUSDC) vaults. Although Arcadia Finance confirmed the hack two hours after PeckShield’s intimation and paused the contracts to prevent further loss of funds. According to PeckShield: “In addition, there is a lack of reentrancy protection, which allows for the instant liquidation to bypass the internal vault health check.”. Most of the stolen funds were from Optimism, which was approximately 180 Ether, and have already been washed via Tornado Cash. However, the stolen tokens on Ethereum, worth over $103,000 at the time of writing, remain parked at the suspected wallet address. A report by blockchain security company CertiK revealed that a total of 212 security incidents were recorded in the quarter, resulting in a loss of $313,566,528 from Web3 protocols. In comparison to the previous year’s Q2 data, CertiK found that the number of crypto hacks declined by 58%. Out of these, the BNB Smart Chain recorded the most incidents, with 119 incidents leading to $70,711,385 in losses. Source https://t.me/Blockchain_Explained

🏦 Coinbase Knew It May Have Been Violating the Law Prior to the SEC's Lawsuit, Regulator Claims The regulator filed its response to a Coinbase filing which argued that the agency does not have sufficient jurisdiction to bring a lawsuit against it. The SEC sued Coinbase a month ago, alleging it was operating as an unregistered broker, clearinghouse and exchange all in one go, having listed at least 13 different cryptocurrencies that are unregistered securities. In Friday's document, the SEC said that it would oppose any motion for judgement Coinbase might file. "Coinbase, a multi-billion-dollar entity advised by sophisticated legal counsel, argues it was unaware that its conduct risked violating the federal securities laws, and suggests that by approving Coinbase’s registration statement in 2021 the SEC confirmed the legality of Coinbase’s underlying business activities – at that time and for all time," the SEC said in its filing. However, the regulator continued, Coinbase had previously "adopted the very legal framework" enacted by the U.S. Supreme Court to determine whether certain cryptocurrencies met the requirements of federal securities laws, while "explicitly discourag[ing]" crypto issuers from making any statements "traditionally associated with securities." 🏦 FBI Targets Kraken Founder Jesse Powell In Startling Hacking Probe Jesse Powell, the founder and former CEO of crypto exchange Kraken, has recently come under the scrutiny of federal authorities as the FBI conducted a search of his Los Angeles home earlier this year. Agents from the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and the U.S. attorney’s office for the Northern District of California have been actively investigating Jesse Powell since at least the fall of last year. The Verge Center for the Arts accused Powell of interfering with its computer accounts, including blocking access to emails and other forms of communication. According to reports from The New York Times, law enforcement agents conducted a search of Powell’s Brentwood residence, seizing electronic devices as part of their investigation. It is important to note that Powell has not been formally charged with any criminal offenses related to the investigation. In response to the allegations, Jesse Powell’s legal counsel, Brandon Fox of Jenner & Block, issued a statement emphasizing that the Verge Center for the Arts had presented a one-sided account and failed to provide the government with the complete picture. Fox stated that Powell “did nothing wrong” and asserted that the matter at hand was unrelated to Powell’s employment or his conduct in the cryptocurrency industry. 🟠 Binance Refers Dutch Users to Rival Coinmerce as it Exits Netherlands Binance is referring Dutch customers to rival crypto exchange Coinmerce as it ceases business in the Netherlands, according to a Thursday statement by Coinmerce. Dutch residents can no longer use Binance’s service after the world’s biggest crypto exchange failed to secure recognition as a virtual asset provider, but has offered its customers a free transfer to its rival, which has been registered by the central bank to offer crypto exchange and wallet services since 2020. Last year Binance was fined 3.3 million euros ($3.6 million) by the Dutch central bank for serving clients in the country without the required authorization. Last month it announced it would take no new customers in the Netherlands, with existing clients unable to deposit, trade or purchase after July 17. Binance premises were recently raided in France, the company’s flagship center in Europe, in a probe into “aggravated money laundering.” The company and its CEO Changpeng “CZ” Zhao have also been charged by U.S. regulators with operating an unlicensed securities exchange. A spokesperson for Binance confirmed to CoinDesk it has been working on a "seamless transition". Source https://t.me/Blockchain_Explained

📣 Bitget To Launch New Product To Expand On Crypto Lending Sector According to a July 4 news release, Bitget, a well-known crypto-exchange, has entered the “crypto lending” market with the debut of its new product, Crypto Loans. The exchange states the loan product employs a “dual-coin approach.” Those who stake one coin will be compensated with another asset. Customers of Bitget’s new Crypto Loans service will be able to stake low-demand currencies. Bitget will lend such users more liquid assets in exchange. Bitget has established itself in the cryptocurrency industry by providing both copy-trading and crypto-derivatives services, and it is now time to cater to the rising loan demand. Furthermore, the new business hopes to attract a new audience of customers who have been turned down by conventional lenders and are searching for alternative funding options via digital assets. Bitget’s Crypto Loans utilize a dual-coin strategy, allowing customers to stake one of their assets as collateral in return for the option to borrow a matching amount in another currency. Each loan is granted at a fixed interest rate, and the amount borrowed is decided by the collateral’s market value. Loans are granted for a certain length of time. ⚛️ Layer 1 Blockchain Archway Is Now Live On Cosmos Ecosystem Archway, a Cosmos-based incentivized smart contract platform, has launched its mainnet. The network intends to dedicate a part of Archway’s token supply to decentralized apps, with 25% going to app creators and the remaining 75% going to validators. Developers that create apps using Archway, according to Archway co-founder Griffin Anderson, will have a major interest in the underlying protocol, similar to how validators and miners get paid for verifying the network. On March 24, Phi Labs concluded a $21 million initial round of funding headed by CoinFund and Hashed, with participation from 1confirmation, IDEO CoLab, Figment, Blockchain Capital, Wintermute, Chorus One, stake.fish, Lemniscap, Cosmostation, and Hypersphere Ventures. The increased funds would be used to expand the company’s employees, create new products, and build up the Archway protocol. The team presently has roughly 20 full-time personnel, with hopes to increase that number to more than 50 by the end of the year. The Archway protocol, invented by Phi Labs, is considered to be an incentivized smart contract platform built on Cosmos and paying developers. Source https://t.me/Blockchain_Explained

📊 Bitcoin Cash, FTX’s FTT Token and COMP Led Crypto Market Gains in June Bitcoin Cash (BCH) was the top performing digital asset this month, with most of the gains coming in the last week and a half following its listing on EDX Markets, the crypto exchange backed by Fidelity, Charles Schwab and Citadel, that debuted June 20. The token gained 171% over the month, outperforming bitcoin (BTC), the world’s largest cryptocurrency, which added 14%, CoinDesk data show. At one point on Friday BCH had surged 30% over 24 hours, touching 14-month high of $320. The surge was backed by a notable increase in trading activity on South Korea's most prominent digital assets exchange, Upbit. Data tracked by Coingecko show the bitcoin cash-Korean won (BCH/KRW) pair listed on Upbit has registered a trading volume of $558 million in the past 24 hours. That's nearly 3.5 times bigger than the volume of $160 million in Upbit's BTC/KRW pair and 5.5 times the BCH/USD volume of $87 million on the Nasdaq-listed Coinbase exchange. Bitcoin cash’s outperformance in June may be attributed to a perception that forks of the Bitcoin blockchain may pose a lower regulatory risk, said Matt Kunke, a research analyst at GSR. 📣 Delio Crypto-Finance Company Goes Bankrupt Amidst Creditor Chaos Delio have reportedly applied to the Seoul Bankruptcy Court through law firm LKB & Partners to initiate bankruptcy proceedings for the company. South Korean crypto-finance firm made headlines when it announced the suspension of withdrawals, citing the impact of Haru Invest. Furthermore, South Korean prosecutors imposed travel bans on key executives of Delio, preventing them from leaving the country. These developments raised concerns among investors and customers of Delio. On June 26, Delio announced that it would resume certain cryptocurrency deposit and withdrawal services starting from June 28. This move may provide some relief to users who were affected by the suspension and were unable to access their funds. The application for bankruptcy proceedings by Delio’s creditors reflects the challenges and uncertainties faced by the firm, as well as the concerns of those who have invested in or dealt with the company. The court’s involvement will play a crucial role in determining the future course of action for Delio and its stakeholders. The class-action lawsuit filed against Haru Invest and Delio by the law firm LKB & Partners adds another layer of legal complexity to the situation. This action suggests that there may be grievances and allegations of wrongdoing that have prompted the creditors to seek legal recourse. Source https://t.me/Blockchain_Explained

💰 Unlock Cash With Tokenized FTX Claim As Loan Collateral FTX has recently pledged a claim as collateral for a loan in the decentralized finance (DeFi) protocol Arcade, marking the first-ever on-chain loan backed by an FTX claim. The transaction took place on the bankruptcy claims platform, Found, where the $31,307 claim was tokenized, and its ownership was represented by a non-fungible token (NFT). The NFT was used as collateral for a $7,500 loan that needs to be paid back within five days. If the borrower is not able to repay the loan, the lender will be entitled to the claim. This transaction is an excellent example of the potential of real-world assets (RWA) tokenization, which allows tokenizing the ownership rights of an asset on a blockchain. The tokenization of assets in DeFi is a hot topic, and it is one of the most prominent areas in the space. Many real-world assets can be tokenized, including stocks, government bonds, real estate, and commodities. Found, the bankruptcy claims platform, confirmed that the original creditor and lender went through its biometric Know Your Customer and Anti-Money Laundering screenings. The company’s website states that users can access loans using bankruptcy claims as collateral, with a 10% transaction fee on successful trades. Source https://t.me/Blockchain_Explained
