We chasing flashy progress drone shows, shiny buildings, ምን ጥቅም? For what purpose? Foreign firms build everything. Intellectual work is outsourced. We clap, but it’s not ours. The UAE built luxury with oil and foreign labor but outsiders own it. Now Ethiopia, without oil wealth, is copying the same model using minerals and borrowed money. Are we selling our future for appearances? Modernization is good ማን ይጠላል፣ but not at the cost of sovereignty, substance, and soul. First, Las Vegas normalized adultery and prostitution. Then Dubai followed once the most conservative Islamic state, now turned into a city of sin operating 24/7. Rules were relaxed not for locals, but for Westerners. Even our Instagram models are part of it. It's heartbreaking selling your body for money. If this is happening now, what will our children grow up to believe is normal? Like Dubai, Ethiopia risks being a country where the rich and foreign live in luxury apartments in ካዛንቺስ፣ ቦሌ፣ ለገሀር, while we the working classare pushed to ኮዬ ፈጨ፣ ቦሌ አራብሳ፣ ገላን ጉራ. This is not transformation. It’s dependency wearing a golden mask. Don’t be dazzled by the glitter. who owns it? Who built it ? Who benefits from it ?

But even within this broken system, people have succeeded. Students from the same classrooms, with the same teachers, under the same roof some got hired in core companies, others launched startups. They made it work. You’re not stuck. You’re just under-skilled for the next level you’re trying to reach. So what’s the move? Close the gap. Level up. The momentum will follow.
