12th Oct is the day of “Hispanicity” to commemorate the legacy of Christopher Columbus who discovered the Americas on the Solemnity of Our Lady of the Pillar (Nuestra Señora del Pilar). It is a bit controversial today because the legacy of disovery was also a history of colonialism. But what is interesting is the connexion between Our Lady and Saint James. She appeared to him whilst she was still alive. He was discouraged because he was not successful in converting the local population this corner of the Iberian peninsula. The pillar on which the statue stands atop is found in Zaragoza. This is a statue of Saint Andrew hold the instrument of his torture, a saltire, which is a Cross shaped like the letter X. 这是圣安德肋的雕像，手持着他的酷刑器，一个斜形交叉的十字架。

A Cherubim spotted in the Church of Saint Maria Salome wearing a pair of spectacles. As Salome is believed to be the mother of James and John, she is much honoured here in the city of her son, Santiago. 在 圣玛利亚•撒罗默堂 中发现了戴着眼镜的 革鲁宾。 由于 撒罗默 被公认为 雅各伯 及 若望 的母亲，她在她儿子圣雅各伯的城市受到了极大的尊重。
