Good day, Ivies; we hope this message finds you well, among the brightest flame of resistance to oppression. We would like to apologise for the lack of activity you may have noticed on our terrace in recent days; we had plans to reform and deform, yet we are here struggling to grasp our own freedom at the end of this Independence Month. This is why there were no celebrations conducted last week because our belief has always been firm: that nobody is free until everyone is free. The seventeenth of August is nothing but meaningless symbolism to mask the destruction, violence, hubris, and fear. And as long as this country is still led by a war criminal, our land never knows the taste of democracy.
Our stance is, has always been, and will continue to be, strongly opposing and condemning any actions of persecution against civilians. The current situation in Indonesia devastates us and enrages us, but never becomes a reason to loathe this country. We still have this archipelago close at heart, but at the same time, we pity the situations that we put it through. The escalating civil unrest, the violent tyranny, the corrupt officials who lack accountability. Our hearts ache for the sweat, blood, and tears that have fallen on the ground. Police, who are supposed to serve the public, have made their own way to nod at the elites. Nobody should be beaten up to death only for raising their voices and demanding their rights. It is never ever ever justified, and we are not here to witness another one of us to fall again.
We are well aware of the amount of audiences that we have, hence, this statement. Power always comes from us. From the hands that never weary of reaching and attempting, for the lips that never wish to be sealed, for the stories that are not forgotten, for the legs that keep marching, for the hopes we hold dear, and for the rages we have been attempting to hide. It is an opportunity to speak, do, use, and stand up. Any resistance, no matter how slight, is resistance. We are here to change, form, gather, and breathe. For your own standard of living, do a move. For your own unchained path, keep moving. This is our fight, this is our land, and this is for us. Our anger has always been righteous.
And our deepest condolences to every person who lost their warmth and sparks because of the failed, shameful regime. We hope that sorrow morphs into a light of resilience, wider and brighter, as the end draws near. The heartfelt appreciation to those who stand up on behalf of us, who hunger and fatigued but preserved until the sinking of tyranny. Provocateurs may exist between us, but we hope that our bond is stronger, our belief is unwavering. Our prayers are with you. Keep fighting, keep daring, keep sharing, keep donating. Stay safe and stay focused. Sampai menang.
