But the poor man had nothing, save one little ewe lamb, which he had bought and nourished up: and it grew up together with him, and with his children; it did eat of his own meat, and drank of his own cup, and lay in his bosom, and was unto him as a daughter.
A little background of this scripture speaks of Prophet Nathan's proverb to King David who had several wives and cumcubines yet lusted after Bathsheba and wanted her so much that he killed her husband Uriah, a faithful warior of the nation just to add her to his long list of women. No one knows the extent of Bathsheba's beauty and perfection but somehow after David settled the matter with God, he went ahead to marry her and loved her so much that he did everything possible to enthrone her son solomon in his stead before he died.
The question is who was Bathsheba and what made her so attractive to David to a point that he ended up loving her and her son to his death? Well, The answer is in Nathan's proverb. Nathan didn't just give out a proverb, he described how Uriah, a man with one wife actually treated the woman until she became a delight to even kings.
Nathan describes Urial as a poor man and Bethsheba as little ewe lamb (baby sheep). That means Urial picked up Bathsheba at a tender age. And then the prophet described how the woman was cared for;
- she was bought; this means she was properly sought for from her family. A price was paid on her.
- Nourished; this means there was an intentional provision for all she lacked as a woman.
- She grew up together with him; this means Uriah didnt take interest in just using her but he became a part of every growth stage and development of Bathsheba.
- And his children; it means Uriah didnt hide her from his family. It was not a hidden relationship. All his relatives were aware of Bathsheba.
- It did eat his own meat and drunk his own cup; it means he learnt to do everything together with her. To eat from same plate and drink from same cup means they became one in daily activities.
- lay in his bossom; this means he was not just using Bathsheba but became her means of comfort. The woman felt safe, there was no psychological stress on her.
- Was unto him as a daughter; he didnt only play a husband role but a father's role to his wife. It means Uriah switched into correction mode when Bathsheba messed up.
This description of how Uriah handled Bathsheba is one of the best way for a man to live with his wife. Any woman under such condition will glow to a point that another man with 10 wives will still want her and envy her husband. Uriah didnt chase many women, he just made sure he raised one woman to have better qualities than 10 women put together. So David with almost 10 women around him still wanted Bathsheba to a point that he set up the death of Uriah.
A happy woman is a beautiful women. A woman under the proper care of a good man is a happy woman. A happy beautiful woman is the desire of every man no matter the women at his disposal. But not all men are ready to work like Uriah did. So they wait till the little ewe lamb becomes a glowing sheep then they steal it. The bible said the rich man (David) had a visitor and he took the only lamb of the poor man and killed it for his visitor.
Surely the visitor who came to David was a lustful season (A passing sperm). Lust came and he chose to feed it with Uriah's sweat. The consequence was the mysterious death of four children and the curse that the sword will never depart from his house. The worse thing you can do to your generation is to snatch the wife of a Uriah. Always find out who is responsible for a glowing woman before seeking to sacrifice her on your altar of lust. There are always consequences. Now the best advice for men is that GLOW YOUR OWN WOMAN.

Have it in mind that every human being is selfish. No matter how they promise to be there for you, know that they will be there after they are settled. Everyone has a personal interest in any relationship they commit to. No matter who you are, if your partner's interest is not met, he or she will complain. At best, they will smile in public and complain in secret.
Have the mindset that your partner didn't come into a relationship with you for you. It is liars that say if you are happy, I am okay. Very soon, if you don't make certain contributions that will serve their hidden interest, they will explode. If you are not yet married, ask your partner what your personal expectation of me and your precise interest in me is. In other words, reveal to me what your selfish nature is demanding from this relationship. If he or she opens up to their selfish nature, then you judge yourself if you can meet up to the selfish demand for a lifetime without pretense or stress.
Everyone has an element of selfishness. Some reveal it very early. Some later in the relationship. But in the end, if your interest is not met at least halfway, then you are not in a relationship but bondage. Mind you while you seek your interest to be met, prepare to meet that of your partner.

That is why it has always been an error to sleep with a man you are not married to because of the promises he made to you. Dear lady, After having as much sex with you as possible, he will reason well and walk away over a small offense. And men you can make a mistake to have sex with a lady you are not married to because you think better after sex but it is never a mistake on a woman's part to have sex with you. They thought through it based on an advantage they assumed would be to their favor.
Everyone must wise up. Illecit sex is like gambling. After the sex, what the woman was thinking before getting into it may work out or what the man starts to think after the sex may work out. If the thoughts don't match, then one will cry for a long time out of broken heart. Purity is safety! Every man has the tendency to cheat, but the marriage covenant guides and aligns a good man's thoughts after sex. So women think well enough to abstain from premarital sex if you want to keep a man after sleeping with him.

You are a great person if you make people feel like humans when they get around you. Your ability to make people smile even in their lowest moments, and give them hope when they feel lost is what makes you special. You are special if your first impression is to make people feel you are not different from them. The things you will leave behind in life don't have memory to remember you when you are no more, it is the people you touched that will be your true memorial. Value humans!
Don't sacrifice people for things. Sacrifice things for people. Love them while you can. Relationship is key to accessing new territories. When you meet people in church, smile! Let people feel belonged. Young lady, not everyone saying hi means it to be a proposal. Some just want to know if someone like you will value them enough to smile back to them. Don't be snubbish all the time! How many people can point to you that you contributed to their sustainance?
This year a son of mine came to see me in January. And he came with a list of all that I did for him in 2023 that shifted his life. He took time reading them from a paper while I watched on listening. He penned down every detail of my contribution to his life and ministry through the year. This is the first time I saw such form of appreciation and also saw the need for me to keep being kind. To me I thought I didnt do much for him but when he took time to list, he mentioned over 18 things I did that made his 2023 a better year. And one of them was that I hugged him and took pictures with him many times in the year.
My joy for him was to see him get the things he acquired for his ministry and personal life in the year. But what also touched him too was the hugs. The day we realize that people value our love more than our things it will be too late. LET PEOPLE FEEL SPECIAL. BE KIND! Many are at the point of suicide. Throwing your weight around is doing more harm than good. Help heal a dying world with a little kindness. When he left I prayed a short prayer, Lord help me to stand with him so he can feel this loved and safe all the time. I just saw his joy and boldness to do ministry knowing he has a father who genuinely loves him.
All people are looking for is to be genuinely accepted and loved. As much as possible, care for some and be there always even when it is not easy for you.
