*What is PSC ? * Why should not we use different cements for different purpose and in different season. Now a days we are coming across three main types OPC , PPC and PSC. We need to choose appropriate one from these three according to usage. PSC consists of 25-70% granulated slag, 3% gypsum and the rest is clinker. Granulated slag is, essentially, a non-metallic product comprising more with silicates and alumino-silicates of lime. PHYSICAL & CHEMICAL CHARACTERSTICS PORTLAND SLAG CEMENT (AS PER BIS-455-1989) Previously some PSC cements were in market but now once again some good brands are coming up with PSC cement. PSC lessens the risk of shrinkage cracks and cracking. Strength gain is less in PPC and it is also not suitable for high performance concrete and quick concrete setting whereas PSC brings ultimate strength and excellent finish, hence PSC holds the upper hand. To reduce shrinkage cracking , for long term strength gaining and durability PSC can be used as special requirement.
