Ruby Ridge was the site of a violent confrontation and siege in the U.S. state of Idaho in 1992. It involved Randy Weaver, his family, Weaver’s friend Kevin Harris, federal agents from the United States Marshals Service, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
Hundreds of armed federal agents surrounded the family in their mountaintop cabin. Eleven days later, three people were dead as well as the families dog. Randy's only son Sammy Weaver, 14, was shot and killed, Randy's wife Vicki was killed cradling their infant daughter, as was U.S. Marshal William Degan. Along with the families dog, named Striker.
