September 3, 2026 | Free University of Bozen-Bolzano, Italy St. Mary’s University (SMU) participated in the 6th General Assembly of the MaDE-for-UASs Project at the Free University of Bozen-Bolzano (unibz), Italy. The General Assembly brought together Ethiopian and European partner institutions to review project progress, share achievements, and strengthen collaboration. Following welcoming remarks by Prof. Patrich Dalesaga (unibz), Project Coordinator Dr. Ephrem Tekle presented an overview of project implementation, confirming that activities remain on track. Consortium partners then shared updates on their respective activities, followed by constructive discussions. The meeting concluded with the presentation and approval of the finalized project action plan, providing clear direction for the next phase of implementation. St. Mary’s University (SMU) is proud to be an active member of the MaDE-for-UASs consortium, contributing to the advancement of modern and practice-oriented higher education in Ethiopia. As part of the 6th General Assembly on September 2, 2026, consortium members visited the NOI Techpark and Faculty of Engineering at the Free University of Bozen-Bolzano, Italy, exploring innovative facilities in smart manufacturing, AI and machine vision, Extended Reality (XR), human-computer interaction, and intelligent technologies. The visit offered valuable insights into how advanced technologies and applied learning environments can support the development of Universities of Applied Sciences (UAS) and strengthen teaching and training capacity. Through the MaDE-for-UASs project, SMU is committed to knowledge exchange, innovation, capacity building, and the transformation of higher education.
