The media thinks it’s exposing Trump’s new press secretary. But what if the exposure itself is the point? SpaceX has also received authorization for thousands of additional satellites, advancing its plans for a much larger space-based communications network. Consider what this could eventually mean: 📡 Cellular coverage in areas where towers don’t exist. 📡 Less dependence on expensive terrestrial infrastructure. 📡 Greater communications resilience during natural disasters. 📡 Increased competition and potentially lower consumer prices. 📡 A fundamental shift in who controls America’s communications infrastructure. Now, to be clear, this technology isn’t ready to replace every cell tower. Dense cities and high-bandwidth applications will still require ground infrastructure for the foreseeable future. But the direction is unmistakable. THE CELL TOWER MAY NO LONGER BE THE FOUNDATION OF EVERY MOBILE CONNECTION. The same company that challenged the established aerospace industry is now challenging the established telecommunications industry.
