Of these , Makum coalfield in sibsagar district is the most developed field. 2. In the mikir hills coalfield – koilajan, Langlor, Diogarang river area are important. 3. Assam coals contain very low ash and high coking qualities but the sulphur content is high, as a result of which this coal is not suitable for metallurgical purposes. □ MEGHALAYA. 1. Garo, khasi and Jaintia hills are believed to have depository of tertiary coal belonging to lower Eocene. □ ARUNACHAL PRADESH 1.
