โ India receives nearly 3,000 hours of sunshine every year which is equivalent to over 5000 trillion kWh per year.

โ NUCLEAR ENERGY.

โ Nuclear energy is obtained from Uranium and Thorium.
โ Nuclear power contributes only 2.75% of our total power generation at present.
โ India is of the few countries which have developed the capability of designing, constructing, commissioning, and operating a nuclear power station without any help from outside.
โ The real progress was made only after the establishment of the Atomic energy institution at trombay in 1954. This was renamed as the Bhabha atomic research centre (BARC) in 1967.
โ The first nuclear power station with 320MW capacity was set up at Tarapur near Mumbai in 1969.
โ Later, atomic reactors were installed at rawatbhata near Kota in rajasthan, Kalpakkam in TN, and Narora in UP, kaiga in Karnataka and Kakarapara in Gujarat also have nuclear energy plants.
