What is your reaction to the notion of tradition? I think a majority of us with evangelical/charismatic instincts (myself included) may react with wariness or suspicion. Tradition? Wasn’t that the thing the Pharisees did that Jesus railed against? Wasn’t that what the 16th c. Reformation abolished in favour of the Bible alone?
To the contrary, we do a great disservice to ourselves by unhitching from the two millennia of biblical and theological groundwork. The saints who’ve gone before us have left us with a rich heritage. Why start from scratch? Why settle for a thin Christianity that floats in mid-air?
