🔠🔠🔠🔠🔠🔠🔠 Take a moment to appreciate the following sentence structure: "Students can develop a deeper appreciation for the outdoors while enhancing their physical fitness and cognitive abilities." It might seem insignificant at first glance, but it offers greater variety to the structures you may be using in your essays. Besides, it is very easy to integrate. Try it yourself. Let me break it down for you. Subject + Verb + Object + while + Verb-ing + Object and Object. Basically, you can use that instead of this: Subject + Verb + Object, Verb + Object and Object. Variety is more important than complexity.

👨‍🏫Two ways to paraphrase a sentence: The line graph gives information about the production of cotton in the USA between 1990 and 2010. Through synonyms: 1) The line graph shows data about the manufacture of a white plant in America from 1990 to 2010. Through grammar: 2) The graph shows how much cotton was produced in the USA from 1990 to 2010. The 2nd sentence is much more effectively paraphrased because it conveys the message more precisely. Using more synonyms isn't necessarily a good way to paraphrase. Focus on the grammar first, and then try changing one or two words that you ARE certain about. Changing the word formation is an effective method: verb -> noun noun -> verb

🧐 In the first example, the stress in on “flat”. This emphasizes the fact that the person concerned does not rent a house or a boathouse, but lives in a flat. When the stress is on “rent”, however, the focus shifts to the fact that they just rent a flat but do not own it. Similar logic applies in the last example too. Here the person is emphasizing “I’ve”, showing that it is they who is renting, not someone else. I hope this helps ✌🏻🕊

⚠️ Is sentence stress important in IELTS speaking? Of course, it is. It is one of the features of pronunciation that the examiner is looking for during your test. Consider the following examples where different parts of the same sentence are stressed: 1. I’ve rented a FLAT. 2. I’ve RENTed a flat. 3. I’VE rented a flat. Although the meaning of these three sentences remain generally the same, each of these sentences has subtle differences. What do you think are these nuanced differences? #speaking #pronunciation

The diagrams compare the skeletal systems of two ancestors of modern humans, namely Australopithecus afarensis and Homo erectus. They show several significant differences in their physical structures, particularly those related to walking and running. Overall, Homo erectus had a skeleton that was better adapted to walking and endurance running, whereas Australopithecus afarensis had features associated with both walking and tree climbing. In terms of the upper body, A. afarensis had an unbalanced head with a long snout, high and narrow shoulders, and a wide chest. It also had a short, wide waist and relatively long forearms. By contrast, H. erectus had a balanced head with a short snout, low and wide shoulders, and a narrower chest. Its waist was tall and narrow, while its forearms were shorter. There were also considerable differences in the lower body. A. afarensis had small hip, knee and ankle joints, a long femoral neck, and a small heel bone. Its feet had long toes and only a partial arch. In comparison, H. erectus had larger joints, a shorter femoral neck and an enlarged heel bone. It also possessed a stabilised foot arch, short toes and a longer Achilles tendon, all of which would have supported more efficient movement and running.
