It’s also the Day of Saints Peter and Fevronia, who are considered the patrons of family and marriage. 🎓 let’s look at how Russian reflects this idea grammatically — with the Genitive case (родительный падеж). In Russian, when we talk about whose something is or what something is dedicated to, we use the genitive. ❤️День (чего?) семьи — the Day of the family. ❤️День любви и верности — the Day of love and fidelity. ❤️Покровители (кого? чего?) семьи и брака — the patrons of family and marriage. 💡 Notice the pattern: the Genitive answers the questions «кого?» (for animate nouns) and «чего?» (for inanimate ones). In English, we usually show this with “of” or an apostrophe‑s, but in Russian, the noun itself changes its ending.   💬 Try this: how would you say in Russian “the symbol of love”?. 😴 Sleep in Russian: mastering the verbs 🤯For learners of Russian, verbs related to sleep can be tricky. In Russian, we have different words for the different stages of sleeping. Let’s break down the most common ones: спать, засыпать/заснуть, просыпаться/проснуться,высыпаться/выспаться. 🛌 Спать (to sleep) This verb describes the actual process of sleeping. It’s imperfective. Meaning: to be in a state of sleep. Examples: ✅Он спит уже восемь часов. — He has been sleeping for eight hours already. ✅Я люблю спать подольше в выходные. — I like to sleep in on weekends. 💤 Засыпать / Заснуть (to fall asleep) Here, the aspect of the verb matters a lot. Засыпать — imperfective. This is the process, the transition from being awake to sleeping. ✅Ребёнок долго засыпает. — The child takes a long time to fall asleep. ✅Я быстро засыпаю, когда устаю. — I fall asleep quickly when I’m tired. Заснуть — perfective. This marks the moment when sleep has already started. ✅Она только что заснула. — She just fell asleep. Не шуми, он уже заснул. — ✅Don’t make noise, he has already fallen asleep. 💡 Tip: Think of засыпать as “starting to fall asleep” and заснуть as “having fallen asleep”. ☀️ Просыпаться / Проснуться (to wake up) Just like the previous pair, these are two aspects of the same action. Просыпаться — imperfective. The process of waking up. ✅Мне трудно просыпаться рано утром. — It’s hard for me to wake up early in the morning. ✅Кошка просыпается от каждого шороха. — The cat wakes up at every little sound. Проснуться — perfective. The moment when a person is no longer asleep. ✅Я проснулся в семь часов. — I woke up at seven o’clock. ✅Ты уже проснулся? Пора завтракать! — Have you woken up yet? It’s time for breakfast! 😌 Высыпаться / Выспаться (to get enough sleep) These verbs are not about the process but about the result and how you feel. Высыпаться — imperfective. To get enough sleep regularly, as a habit. ✅В отпуске я наконец-то высыпаюсь. — On vacation, I finally get enough sleep (on a regular basis). ✅Важно высыпаться каждый день. — It’s important to get enough sleep every day. Выспаться — perfective. To have gotten enough sleep in one instance, specifically this time. ✅Вчера я хорошо выспался, чувствую себя бодрым. — Yesterday I got a good night’s sleep, I feel energetic. ✅Надеюсь, ты выспался перед экзаменом. — I hope you got enough sleep before the exam.

The reflexive verb “вернуться” (to return, to come back) ↩️ “Вернуться” is a perfective reflexive verb.  Examples in different situations: ✅Я вернулся домой после работы. → I came back home after work.  ✅Она вернулась из отпуска. → She came back from vacation.  ✅Мы вернёмся через час. → We’ll be back in an hour.  ❗️Important nuance: “Вернуться” has an imperfective pair — “возвращаться”. Use it for repeated or ongoing actions: ✅Он часто возвращается поздно. → He often comes back late. (A regular action.) ✅Я возвращаюсь туда каждый год. → I go back there every year. (Now, one direction) 2. Мы ехали два часа. (Focus on the process, how long it took, one direction) 3. Когда он ехал домой на машине, начался дождь. (Interrupted action, during the process of movement, something happened) 🛞ЕЗДИТЬ - туда и обратно (multiple directions, go and return, finished journey). 1. Каждый день я езжу на работу на метро.
