Bed&Breakfast Santulan (‘balance’ in Hindi) in Baja California, Mexico seems to be floating above the ground – the effect achieved by using mirroring podiums to support the buildings seemingly made of brick. According to the design plan by the architect Santos Bolivar, all the buildings are interconnected by walkways to highlight the idea of a peaceful relationship between private and collective life. The project is also about the balance between architecture and nature – the featured ecotechnologies include walls of BTC (block of compacted earth), wetland (greywater reuse system), fog catcher tower to capture mist water, green roofs with low maintenance endemic plants and organic orchard,  among many others.
