Meta and Salesforce will collaborate to develop a WhatsApp-first business messaging platform With messaging becoming a preferred channel for customer engagement, a new strategic partnership between Meta and Salesforce promises to assist businesses in creating experiences for customers to chat with on Meta-owned messaging service WhatsApp. Salesforce surveyed over 13,000 consumers and nearly 4,000 business buyers across 29 countries in its recent survey, State of the Connected Customer, and discovered that 90 percent of customers say the experience a company provides is as important as its products or services, and 66 percent of online adults globally prefer messaging as a way of communicating with a business. WhatsApp-first business messaging will provide people and businesses around the world with modern, convenient, integrated, and personalised experiences. According to Salesforce, this integration will transform how brands connect with consumers seamlessly through conversational engagement across marketing, commerce, and service interactions.

Post the fundraising, NeuroPixel.AI is valued at $5.8 Mn (INR 46.39 Cr). NeuroPixel.AI applies advanced AI/ML and statistical learning theory to computer vision and image processing in the context of online retail storefronts. In addition, as part of its employee stock option plan, NeuroPixel.AI has issued 1,250 employee stock options (ESOP 2022). It intends to provide artificial intelligence-enabled fashion cataloguing, synthetic model generation, and virtual try-ons. According to its website, the Bengaluru-based deeptech SaaS startup has yet to launch its services, which will be offered to ecommerce companies.

Online Gaming Ban: Supreme Court issues notice regarding TN Govt's petition against madras HC order The Supreme Court issued a notice on Friday (September 9) on a petition filed by the Tamil Nadu government challenging the Madras High Court's order overturning the state's ban on online games such as rummy and poker. A Supreme Court bench comprised of Justice Aniruddha Bose and Justice Vikram Nath issued the notice and asked respondents, which included gaming companies such as Junglee Games, Play Games 24-7, Gemeskraft Technologies, as well as the All India Gaming Federation and others, to file their responses within four weeks. The case has been scheduled for hearing in eight weeks, according to the bench. In December of last year, the Tamil Nadu government filed an appeal with the Supreme Court against the Madras High Court's August 3 decision. A High Court bench led by Chief Justice Sanjib Banerjee and Justice Senthilkumar Ramamoorthy ruled that the government's law prohibiting online betting games was unconstitutional.

Centre launches 'SETU' to connect Indian startups with US-based investors and mentors SETU (Supporting Entrepreneurs in Transformation and Upskilling) was launched on Wednesday by Union Minister Piyush Goyal in an effort to connect Indian startups with US-based investors (7th September). Goyal introduced SETU at a meeting with venture capitalists in the San Francisco Bay Area, stating that the initiative will provide mentorship and guidance to Indian startup leaders in areas such as funding, market access, and commercialization, among others. The discussion (in the Bay Area) centred on issues concerning the Indian startup ecosystem. It emphasised ways to encourage domestic incorporation and mentorship in the country's early-stage startups.

Gujarat Introduces a Drone Policy and plans to add 25,000 jobs The Government of Gujarat introduced the ‘Drone Promotion and Usage Policy’ – a drone policy for the state with the aim of creating new opportunities in the sector. The policy states that in order to operate, drone makers, users, and pilots must register on the Digital Sky platform and obtain a special identification number and a demarcation area from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation. The state administration announced a policy that will allow various departments to deploy drones to fulfil various needs for a period of five years. The Gujarati government has requested that within the next six months, various government agencies, PSUs, and other organisations develop plans to encourage the use of drones in their respective regions.

Dubai to host a global metaverse event in September Dubai will host a global event bringing together metaverse experts, following the implementation of a dedicated strategy to increase the sector's contribution to the economy. Spacetech firm Agnikul to raise $40 million in a Series B in the largest Spacetech funding round Spacetech firm Agnikul, incubated at IIT Madras to raise $40 million in a Series B round at a valuation of $250 million. Agnikul is also the first startup to enter into an agreement with the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) under the recently announced IN-SPACe initiative to use the space agency's expertise and facilities to build Agnibaan. When completed, Agnikul's latest fundraise will be the largest investment round by a private spacetech company in India to date. Agnikul recently established a rocket factory in Chennai to manufacture end-to-end 3D printed engines.
