Civil Services Day
A Tribute. A Promise. A Journey.
Today isn’t just about those who have made it —
It’s about you, who are sculpting yourself to serve India with intellect, empathy, and grit.
Remember:
Every early morning study session...
Every battle with self-doubt...
Every question practiced, every essay rewritten...
is a silent pledge to uphold the spirit of civil service.
The Civil Services aren't a job.
They are India's beating conscience.
On this day, whisper this to yourself:
"I am not preparing for an exam. I am preparing for a lifetime of purpose."
Stay resilient. Stay inspired.
The nation awaits you.

Justice B.R. Gavai is a Supreme Court judge set to become the 52nd Chief Justice of India in May 2025.
Challenge to the Waqf Act, 2025: Key Issues
The Supreme Court is hearing 65 petitions challenging the new Waqf Act, 2025. Major concerns flagged:
End of 'Waqf-by-Use':
Land historically used for religious purposes but unregistered can no longer be easily claimed as Waqf, raising concerns for old mosques/graveyards.
District Collector’s Powers:
Collectors can now label Waqf-used lands as government property, even before courts decide — risking misuse.
Inclusion of Non-Muslims in Waqf Boards:
Petitioners argue it violates Article 26, which protects a community’s right to manage its religious affairs independently.
Applicability of Limitation Act:
Imposes time limits on claims over Waqf properties, weakening Waqf institutions’ ability to reclaim encroached lands.
The SC may stay provisions relating to non-Muslim inclusion and collector powers. Next hearing: May 5.

Type 5 Diabetes Recognised as a Distinct Disease by IDF
Why is this Significant?
For decades, a form of diabetes affecting lean and malnourished teenagers and young adults in low- and middle-income countries was neglected or misdiagnosed. Now, the International Diabetes Federation (IDF) has officially recognised it as “Type 5 Diabetes” — marking a crucial step in targeted research, diagnosis, and treatment.
What is Type 5 Diabetes?
▪️ Caused by malnutrition-induced reduction in insulin production
▪️ Affects the pancreatic beta cells, resulting in severely lowered insulin levels
▪️ No genetic or autoimmune basis
▪️ Common among those with BMI < 18.5, low body fat, and poor early-life nutrition
History:
▪️ First reported in 1955 (Jamaica, “J-type”)
▪️ Temporarily classified by WHO in 1985 as “malnutrition-related diabetes mellitus”
▪️ Reintroduced as Type 5 by IDF in April 2025
Treatment:
• High-protein, balanced diet
• Tailored use of anti-diabetic medication/insulin
• No standard therapy yet — guidelines expected in 2 years
