Hey community, no need for jail support right now, but with big crowds at political rallies we like to be prepared just in case. Please let us know if jail support is needed and we will blast and make sure you brush up on UATL’s numbers and protocol for calling for an arrested loved one. When an action happens, sometimes comrades are arrested. Jail Support is organizing to support those who have been targeted and arrested by police to make sure they get out and home safely. Anyone can join jail support and become a jail supporter. 💙We work with Up Against the Law to get support out where needed. This is organizing and revolutionary work to make sure comrades are accounted for, not alone, and to show that we show up for community when police terrorize. 🧡 What can YOU do? The most important part of Jail Support is to have supporters on the ground outside the precincts where people are being released to give support in shifts. People waiting and those being released need food, water, some medical supplies, cigarettes, blankets, hand sanitizer, disposable masks, sometimes tarps and ponchos. You can ask loved ones to come with you and support together. There's no special skillset needed to be a jail supporter. Always consider your safety first. -On the ground supporters can check in with admins if they need to leave, please use your network to coordinate shifts if coverage is needed (If comrades are still being held at that location.) -Food can be made and brought, keep in mind COVID considerations and send items that can be individually wrapped or separated easily. -If you have a car and can offer rides to those being released, please let the admins know and someone on the ground know. No one should get into a car with a stranger or someone they feel uncomfortable with. -at this time we are not taking monetary donations. Hello Philadelphia! With the public calls for actions tonight, we are opening up the Jail Support channel once again. Please contact us directly and follow this channel for updates on needs for when we receive info if/when there are any arrests. Also please check out our pinned posts for some jail support 101 facts that you can disseminate or use yourself if you’re new! If you do go out, make sure you: 1.) read @upagainstthelaw’s posts on their IG (same account name) about the PPD’s attempt to recruit RCOs and community members to help oppress uprisings. Please, if you go out tonight or any night, be aware of this bc folks are being encouraged to straight up citizen’s arrest folks and being plucked into some racist’s Saab is scary as shit. 2.)Have your trusted people know where you are/your location (whatever safety precautions work best for you). 3.) Have a safety plan for you and yours that includes things like medics, safe houses/porches you can use for sanctuary, water distro, etc. 4.) Supporters, thanks for being on the ground, bringing supplies, and offering rides. The jail support needs continue as we anticipate more arrests tonight. With curfew ending at 6 am, we will start shifts again at 6 am with unknown location needs as of right now. When we get word of which precincts people are being held at, we will update you all. Remember if you are on the ground to reach out to one of the JS chat admins listed in the description to check in. The shift schedule tentatively will stay at 4 hours each shift, with the understanding that it is up to you to decide when to go and how long to stay. Try to go within these time frames to relieve others and minimize the need for multiple calls within a short time frame, and point person should be passed on the ground while updating admins. 6am-10am 10am-2pm 2pm-6pm 6pm-10pm 10pm-2am 2am-6am Thank you again. #philly Update from the City of Philadelphia: “A citywide curfew will go into effect tonight, October 30, 2020, from 9 p.m. until 6 a.m. During this time, people may leave their homes only to go to work, seek medical or emergency assistance, or drop off a mail-in ballot.” #forward

#FIELDNOTE UATL has just told us that as far as they know, no one on their list was arrested/held yesterday or wed so we’re dealing with folks picked up before that, and those folks have most likely been moved to #StateRoad at this point. Which isn’t to say that folks aren’t at #18thWest or #1stSouth, bc they don’t know for sure, but most likely not. Right now we’re not asking for calls for folks to do official jail support, but will update if things change. And of course, if folks want to post up at those precincts just in case or for folks picked up for non-protest reasons, you absolutely can.
