This is the Easter tradition in my home town in Italy. First they march a statue of St Giovanni who announces Christ is risen. Then he tells Mary and they remove the black robe from Mary signifying that she is done mourning. The underlying robes are pink and baby blue which is symbolic of Gods creative forces. The removal of the robe is a ancient tradition that symbolizes how God created the material world. Mary herself being symbolic of the creation . The death and resurrection of Christ displays in the most profound sense what is meant by “Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done. In earth, as in Heaven “
