If you see a man performing a good deed, then know that he has some other deeds similar to it, because indeed good deeds lead to other deeds. And if you see him committing an evil deed, then know that he has some other deed similar to it, because indeed evil deeds lead to what is similar to them. t exist.' However, this knowledge did not benefit him. Look at the next line of poetry, he said: 'Were it not for fear of criticism or that I shall be reviled, you would have found me proclaiming and following that ardently.' So it was fear of criticism and abuse that prevented him from eemaan. Had he believed then they would have criticised him. A man has status amongst his people and he fears that they would criticise him and say that he has altered the religion of 'Abdul-Muttalib. This would be considered something great amongst them; that the person should change the religion of their forefathers and grandfathers, due to this he did not believe. It is a must that one knows that eemaan is something in addition to knowledge and cognisance. The person knowing that he is the Messenger of Allaah (sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam) is not sufficient. Rather, it is a must that one loves him because he is the Messenger of Allaah. Therefore, true love is love along with eemaan, compliance, and obedience. This is that which will benefit." بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم *To Love Allaah And His Messenger (sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam)* "There are three qualities. He who possesses them has tasted the sweetness of faith: 1. Allaah and His Messenger are more beloved to him than anything else; 2. He loves an individual and he does not love him except for the sake of Allaah; 3. He hates to return to disbelief just as he would hate to be tossed into the fire. [Saheeh Al-Bukhaaree, No. 16, Saheeh Muslim No. 43] Shaykh Muhammad Amaan Al-Jaamee, may Allaah have mercy upon, mentioned in his explanation of the first quality: "This is such that one does not put anything before the pleasure of Allaah, nor does he put anything before the guidance of the Messenger of Allaah (Sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam), from speech, madh'hab, nor opinion. Rather, he gives utmost precedence to the pleasure of Allaah (subhaanahu wa ta'aalaa) and the implementation of the Sunnah of Allaah's Messenger (sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam) and following it. This love, as we mentioned, is an action of the heart and the action of the heart is in need of something to attest to its truthfulness from the obedience of Allaah and adherence to His command and avoidance of His prohibitions. This is evidence for the love of Allaah. Love of Allaah is the true soul of eemaan (faith), and eemaan without love of Allaah (subhaanahu wa ta'aalaa) is like a body that is dead, having no soul within it. His eemaan is surface level. However, true love is that which emanates from true eemaan in Allaah, the Glorified and Exalted. Similarly, love of the Messenger of Allaah (Sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam), is not exemplified by religious celebrations or Islamic occasions - as some of the people refer to them - and that which accompanies that from gifts and foods. There is no celebration in Islaam for displaying love of the Prophet (sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam). These are innovated gatherings which occur within many lands in which many people gather from both genders in their best clothing, perfumes, and decorations in the name of celebrating the birthday of the Prophet (sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam). You will find amongst those who celebrate, he who does not pray and he who is the furthest of the people from the teachings of Al-Islaam and from clinging to the religion of Al-Islaam. However, they want to display love for the Messenger of Allaah (sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam) by way of this gathering, celebration and eating food, then dancing in a manner which they call the remembrance of Allaah. How great is the strangeness of Al-Islaam?! Love of the Messenger of Allaah (sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam) is exemplified by learning his Sunnah. Knowledge comes before speech and action. One must dedicate himself to learning and not turn away from his Sunnah (sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam). You must learn how to become a scholar and a faqeeh in the religion of Allaah and avoid following desires and statements of men that oppose the Sunnah of the Prophet (sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam). Whatever the person learns from the statements of men and he doesn't look at these statements in light of the Sunnah of the Prophet (sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam) and display humility for it then this does not indicate true love; if he knows it to be from that which the Messenger of Allaah (sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam) was upon, acted upon, and called to (then he acts upon it). This is true love. Love of the Messenger of Allaah (sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam) for the sake of himself without loving the messenger ship will not benefit. Abuu Taalib used to love the Messenger of Allaah (sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam) and was ardent in his love for him and greatly concerned for him. He knew the correctness of his religion due to that which was between them in closeness and he outwardly professed that. Nothing prevented him from eemaan in him and following him except fear of criticism and following the forefathers. He mentioned some lines of poetry wherein he said: 'I know the religion of Muhammad is from the best of the religions tha

‘Abdullah Ibn Mas’ood (radiyAllahu ‘anhu): It is part of certainty in Allah (yaqeen) that you do not please the people by angering Allah, and you do not praise anyone (else) for what Allah has provided you, and do not blame anyone for what Allaah has not given you. For verily, the provision of Allah is not gained by the keenness of those who are keen (for you to have it), nor is it prevented by the hatred of those who hate (for you to have it). And verily Allah, in His justice, made happiness and joy in being certain and content (with Allah) and made worry and sadness in doubt and anger. Anas ibn Malik (radiyAllahu anhu) reported: We were sitting with the Messenger of Allah (salAllahu alayhi wa aalihi sallam) and he said, “Coming upon you now is a man from the people of Paradise.” A man from the Ansar came whose beard was disheveled by the water of ablution and he was carrying both of his shoes with his left hand. The next day the Prophet (salAllahu alayhi wa aalihi sallam) repeated the same words, and the man came in the same condition. The third day the Prophet (salAllahu alayhi wa aalihi sallam) repeated the same again, and the man came in the same condition. When the Prophet (salAllahu alayhi wa aalihi sallam) stood up to leave, Abdullah ibn Amr (radiyAllahu anhu) followed the man and he said, “I am in a dispute with my father and I have sworn not to enter my home for three days. May I stay with you?” The man said yes. Abdullah (radiyAllahu anhu) stayed three nights with the man but he never saw him praying at night. Whenever he went to bed, he would remember Allah and rest until he woke up for morning prayer. Abdullah (radiyAllahu anhu) said that he never heard anything but good words from his mouth. When three nights had passed and he did not see anything special about his actions, Abdullah (radiyAllahu anhu) asked him, “O servant of Allah, I have not been in dispute with my father nor have I cut relations with him. I heard the Prophet (salAllahu alayhi wa aalihi sallam) say three times that a man from the people of Paradise was coming to us and then you came. I thought I should stay with you to see what you are doing that I should follow, but I did not see you do anything special. Why did the Prophet (salAllahu alayhi wa aalihi sallam) speak highly of you?” The man said, “I am as you have seen.” When Abdullah (radiyAllahu anhu) was about to leave, the man said, “I am as you have seen, except that I do not hold anything against any Muslim (ie: I forgive them; I do not find in myself deceit or dishonesty in my soul towards any Muslim) and I do not envy anyone because of the good that Allah has given them.” Abdullah (radiyAllahu anhu) said, “This is (it). (This is) what you have achieved and it is something we have not accomplished.” [Musnad Imam Aḥmad (rahimahullah), 12286, Sahih (authentic) according to Ibn Kathir (rahimahullah)] t.me/striving4firdaws

A Forgotten Sunnah Shaykh Muhammad bin Salih al-Uthaymeen رحمه الله said: "It is from the Sunnah, that if a person sees something he likes from the affairs of the dunya, that he should say: لبيكَ، إنَّ العيشَ عيشُ الآخرة [I am at Your Service! (i.e. I have responded to Your Call and Command) Verily, the true life is the life of the Aakhira] Because it could be that a person turns towards something he likes from the worldly affairs, and ends up forgetting about Allaah. So he should say: (لبيك), answering to Allaah 'aza wa jall, and then he adjusts himself and says: (إنَّ العيشَ عيشُ الآخرة). This (worldly) life that you like will cease to exist, and the true life is the life of the hereafter. So for this reason it is from the Sunnah that if a person sees what he likes from the affairs of the dunya, that he should say: لبيكَ، إنَّ العيشَ عيشُ الآخرة (I am at Your Service! Verily, the true life is the life of the Aakhira) " الشرح الممتع" (3/124) t.me/striving4firdaws

Prophet Muhammad (sallAllaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said, Do not accompany except a believer, and do not serve your food except to a pious person. [Abu Daawood and at-Tirmidhi] The Prophet Muhammad (sallAllaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) is warning Muslims from keeping the company of anyone other than the pious and forbade mixing with such (impious) people and (also) eating with them because this often yields love and affection in the hearts (so it is proper to only mix with and choose the pious people in not only matters of eating and drinking but also important and significant matters and other than that)…” al-Khattaabi (rahimahullah) underlined that this (hadeeth) applies to invitations, not to necessary needed food; Allah, The Exalted, says (what means): {And they give food in spite of love for it to the needy, the orphan, and the captive.} [Quran 67:8] [Awn al-Ma‘bood Sharh Sunan Abi Dawood, al-Adeemabadi (rahimahullah)] t.me/striving4firdaws

The Proper Way to Advise Others Commanding good and forbidding evil should be done with gentleness, as Allah said (regarding debating) the non-believers: ‎وَجَادِلْهُم بِالَّتِي هِيَ أَحْسَنُ “And debate them with that which is best.” (Quran 16:125) Some of the Salaf (rahimahumullah) said, You can never anger someone and (expect) them to accept from you. If the students of Ibn Mas’ud (radiyAllahu ‘anhuma) saw people doing something disliked, they would say to them: “Easy, easy, barak Allah feekum.” One of the Tabi’een (rahimahullah) saw a man standing with a (non-mahram) woman so he told them: “Allah sees you, may He cover our faults and yours.” al-Hasan al-Basri (rahimahullah) was invited (to a gathering) and he was served dessert on a silver plate. al-Hasan took the piece of dessert and put it on a loaf of bread and then ate from it (instead of the silver plate). One of the people attending (who witnessed that) said: “He is silently showing the prohibition (of eating from silver plates).” al-Fudayl (rahimahullah) saw a man fiddling around in the prayer so he harshly reprimanded him. The man called him out and said, “Hey you! The one who stands up for the sake of Allah should do so with humility!” al-Fudayl wept over himself and said, “You have spoken the truth.” Sufyan ath-Thawri (rahimahullah) said, “No one should command good and forbid evil unless he possesses three traits: 1. He commands good and forbids evil with gentleness. 2. He commands good and forbids evil with justice and moderation. 3. He has knowledge of what he’s commanding of good and forbidding of evil. Imam Ahmad (rahimahullah) said: People need gentleness and understanding—not harshness—when being called to do good, except for a person who is openly corrupt.
