| 4 |  Darién, Colombia | Part 3 of 7
After the earthquake, World Mobile and our partners helped bring connectivity to affected communities. The aim was to help families reach each other and neighboring towns communicate again.
In this footage, recorded during the response, World Mobile community member Camilo Restrepo explained why those connections mattered:

When the 7.4-magnitude earthquake struck western Colombia, 1,929 mobile sites experienced failures. In Darién, communication networks were hit while communities were dealing with damaged homes and lost livelihoods.

World Mobile Alliance, Christian Rees and community volunteers are on the ground, working with local representatives and the relief effort.
The AirNode has been installed at the Centro de Integración Ciudadana, where people from surrounding rural communities are arriving for support.
The team is now working to bring free WiFi online so people can contact family and friends. Five connectivity hubs are planned across the town as equipment allows.
