In this project, UTAR will assist NASA in detecting and collecting data on soil moisture in Malaysia. These data will be compared with data collected by NASA’s Soil Moisture Active Passive (SMAP) satellite, assisting NASA in calibrating and validating satellite data. 【優大与山东石油化工学院交换谅解备忘录】 拉曼大学（優大；UTAR）与山东石油化工学院于12月9日在双溪龙校区举办了谅解备忘录（MoU）交换仪式，以开展正式的合作关系。 本次的谅解备忘录是由拉曼大学校长拿督尤芳达教授与山东石油化工学院党委副书记兼分管日常工作的副校长（正校级）于红波博士代表双方签署，并由拉曼大学副校长（国际与学术发展）兼马来西亚科学院院士倪慕敏教授及山东石油化工学院学术人员、中国国家特聘专家兼加拿大工程院院士庄庆发教授代表双方机构交换谅解备忘录。

𝐌𝐨𝐔 𝐞𝐱𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐞 𝐛𝐞𝐭𝐰𝐞𝐞𝐧 𝐔𝐓𝐀𝐑 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐒𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐨𝐧𝐠 𝐈𝐧𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐭𝐮𝐭𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐏𝐞𝐭𝐫𝐨𝐥𝐞𝐮𝐦 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐂𝐡𝐞𝐦𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐓𝐞𝐜𝐡𝐧𝐨𝐥𝐨𝐠𝐲 The exchange of the memorandum of understanding (MoU) between UTAR and Shandong Institute of Petroleum and Chemical Technology (SDIPCT) took place at UTAR Sungai Long Campus on 9 December 2024. The signatories were UTAR President Ir Prof Dato’ Dr Ewe Hong Tat and SDIPCT Executive Vice President Dr Yu Hongbo. Representing the signatories to exchange the MoU were UTAR Vice President for Internationalisation and Academic Development and Academy of Sciences Malaysia Fellow Ir Prof Dr Goi Bok Min and SDIPCT Academic and Chinese National Distinguished Expert and Canadian Academy of Engineering Fellow Prof Chung Keng Huat.

𝐅𝐢𝐟𝐭𝐡 𝐖𝐀𝐏𝐂 𝐨𝐫𝐠𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐢𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐢𝐩𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐬 𝐯𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐭 𝐔𝐓𝐀𝐑 UTAR welcomed the organising committee and participants of the 5th World Association Presidents’ Conference (5th WAPC) at its Sungai Long Campus on 4 December 2024. The visit aimed to explore potential collaborative opportunities, including collaboration in higher education, traditional culture exchange and joint research projects. The visitors were TeaMate Founder and CEO Mr Liu Shuai, Zhuji Zhaojin Chemical Fibre Ltd. Co. General Manager Mr Liu Zhaojie, Hangzhou Lightjoy Technology Ltd. Co. General Manager Mr Sun Jianliang, Pilot House Headquarters representative Mr Wu Wenpeng, Wuzixu Memorial Hall Director Mr Song Zhiming, Deputy Director Ms Zhan Leina, Tianjin Waymark Product International Group General Manager Mr Bai Haijia and Zhejiang Taiyue Education Technology Group Co. advisor Ms Zhao Liping. Welcoming the guests were UTAR President Ir Prof Dato’ Dr Ewe Hong Tat, Office of International Affairs (OIA) Director Assoc Prof Dr Lai Soon Onn, Centre for International Student Recruitment and Education Collaboration Director Mr Lee Choy Fong, Division of Programme Promotion Acting Director Dr Ong Kiah Ju and OIA Assistant Manager Ms Wang Yiling. 𝐀𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐖𝐀𝐏𝐂 Since 2020, the World Association Presidents’ Conference (WAPC) has united over 1,000 global Community Associations, fostering collaboration. Previously held exclusively in Hangzhou, China, the WAPC expanded overseas for the first time, convening on 2 December 2024 at San Choon Hall, Wisma MCA, Kuala Lumpur. The conference adopted the theme Promote Trade Liberalisation and Advance Economic Globalisation, emphasising open trade and global economic integration.

𝐀𝐜𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐦𝐢𝐜 𝐯𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐭 𝐛𝐲 𝐀𝐈𝐌-𝐇𝐈 𝐝𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐠𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐬 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐂𝐡𝐮𝐧𝐠 𝐂𝐡𝐞𝐧𝐠 𝐔𝐧𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐲 UTAR hosted delegates from the Advanced Institute of Manufacturing for High-tech Innovations (AIM-HI), Chung Cheng University (CCU) at its Sungai Long Campus on 4 December 2024. The CCU delegation included AIM-HI/Department of Mechanical Engineering Director Prof Her-Terng Yau, AIM-HI/Department of Mechanical Engineering Division Head of Education and Training Prof Pai-Chen Lin, AIM-HI/Department Chair of Mechanical Engineering Division Head of International Cooperation and Exchange Prof Yong-Song Chen, AIM-HI Project Coordinator of Education and Training Ms Yi-Chieh Yen, and AIM-HI Project Coordinator of International Cooperation and Exchange Ms Hsin-Tien Ho. 【國立中正大學（CCU）高科技創新製造研究所代表團訪問UTAR】 拉曼大學（UTAR）於2024年12月4日在雙溪龍校區接待了来自國立中正大學高科技創新製造研究所（AIM-HI）代表團。代表團成員包括邱和姚贺騰教授（AIM-HI所長/機械工程系）、林派臣教授（教育與培訓部主管/AIM-HI/機械工程系）、陳永松教授（國際合作與交流部主管/AIM-HI/機械工程系系主任）、顏邑洁女士（计划专員/AIM-HI）以及何欣恬女士（计划专員/AIM-HI）。 拉曼大學的代表包括李光前理工學院院長葉文詩教授、副院長（學生發展與工業實習）李錦億副教授、機械與材料工程繫主任楊偉宏副教授、可持續移動技術中心主席曾慶傑副教授、機械與材料工程繫學術人員陳增翰博士以及化學工程繫學術人員張國忠博士。 雙方在會議中討論潛在的合作議題、並進行了紀念品交換及參觀了拉曼大學的實驗室，彰顯了兩校在促進學術合作和創新方面的承諾。

𝐕𝐢𝐜𝐞 𝐏𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭’𝐬 𝐕𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐭 𝐭𝐨 𝐆𝐮𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐱𝐢 𝐔𝐧𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐲 UTAR Vice President for Student Development and Alumni Relations Prof Dr Choong Chee Keong visited Guangxi University (GXU), China, on 22 November 2024. Prof Choong was warmly welcomed by GXU Vice President Prof Xiao Jianzhuang. The meeting featured a friendly exchange, during which both parties reflected on the strong history of collaboration between UTAR and GXU. Prof Choong expressed his gratitude to GXU for its enduring support and assistance to UTAR. He also shared updates on UTAR’s recent accomplishments in international cooperation, as well as an overview of its educational and developmental progress. Furthermore, he proposed collaboration on joint student training programmes in specific disciplines, highlighting the potential for deeper partnerships between the two universities.

【锺副校长出访广西大学】 拉曼大学副校长（学生进展与校友联系事务）锺志强教授于2024年11月22日出访中国广西大学，由该校副校长肖建庄教授亲切接待。 双方进行了友好的交流，并一同回顾了两校密切的合作历史。锺副校长感谢广西大学一直以来对拉曼大学的支持与帮助，并在会上介绍了有关拉曼大学近期在国际合作方面取得的成效，以及办学和发展概况。此外，他也建议两校可在特定的学科领域开展学生联合培养项目，强调了两校深化合作关系的潜力。

𝐔𝐓𝐀𝐑 𝐰𝐞𝐥𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐬 𝐝𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐠𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐬 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐅𝐨 𝐆𝐮𝐚𝐧𝐠 𝐔𝐧𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐲 On 26 November 2024, UTAR Sungai Long Campus hosted a delegation from Fo Guang University for a productive exchange of ideas and opportunities. The delegation, led by Fo Guang University President Mr Chao Han-Chieh, included Prof Jhao Tai-Shun from the Department of History, Mr Chih His-Cheng, Secretary of the Centre for International Collaboration and Exchange, Ms Tseng Mei-Shu, Fo Guang Shan Monastery Venerable You Deng and National Dong Hwa University Prof Ma Yuan-Ron from the Department of Physics. Representing UTAR were the Vice President for Student Development and Alumni Relations, Prof Dr Choong Chee Keong, accompanied by the Dean of the Institute of Chinese Studies (ICS), Assoc Prof Dr Chong Siou Wei, ICS Deputy Dean for R&D and Postgraduate Programmes Assoc Prof Dr Chin Chong Foh, Chairperson of UTAR Buddhist Research Centre Dr Wong Sien Biang and Manager of Office of International Affairs Ms Liu Dan. The discussions focused on initiatives such as joint research, exchange programmes, and undergraduate and postgraduate collaborations, fostering mutual understanding and cross-cultural learning. The event concluded with a ceremonial exchange of tokens and a group photo session, symbolising the commitment to strengthening ties between the two institutions.

【佛光大学代表团参访拉曼大学】 2024年11月26日，拉曼大学在双溪龙校区接待了来自台湾佛光大学的代表团。佛光大學的出席者包括校长赵涵㨗教授、历史学系教授赵太顺、国际合作与交流中心秘书池熙正、佛光大学老师曾美淑、佛光山代表有灯法师、以及国立东华大学物理学系教授马远荣。 拉曼大学的代表有副校长（学生进展与校友联系事物）锺志强教授、中华研究院院长张晓威副教授、中华研究院副院长（科研与研究生课程）陈中和副教授、佛教研究中心主任黄先炳以及国际事务处经理刘丹。 双方探讨了联合研究项目、学生交换计划及本科和研究生合作等议题，促进了跨文化学习与相互理解。本次参访在纪念品交换仪式及合影留念中圆满结束，也进一步加强两校之间合作关系。

【广西师范大学参访】 拉曼大学于11月26日在双溪龙校区接待了来自中国广西师范大学的代表团。此次广西师范大学的来访旨在讨论联合研究计划、师生交流计划等方面的合作机会，特别是在会计学项目方面的合作。 席间嘉宾包括经济管理学院院长张海丰教授以及经济管理学院教学与国际事务副院长罗宇溪副教授。拉曼大学代表有副校长（学生进展与校友联系事务）锺志强教授、会计与管理学院副院长（学生发展与工业实习）罗振兼以及国际事务处处长赖顺安副教授。
