Solana's newly passed SGP-0002 (Double Disinflation) proposal doubles the network's annual disinflation rate from 15% to 30%, accelerating the timeline to reach the long-term 1.5% terminal inflation floor.
The New Schedule vs. the Old Schedule
Disinflation Rate: Doubled from 15% reduction per year to 30% reduction per year.
Time to Target: Solana will reach its 1.5% terminal inflation rate in about 2.8 years (by 2029), instead of roughly 5.7 years (by 2032) under the old schedule.
Token Issuance: Removes approximately 18.9 million fewer SOL tokens from being printed along the way.
Staking Rewards: Baseline rewards will drop faster—falling to around 4.3% within a year and hitting the 2.25% range by 2029, whereas the old schedule delayed those lower yields until closer to 2032.
