Abusing Lobsters for personal news 101 🦞 It has been a while since I was on a team as I tried to not stay involved too much in anything. But after a few months of degening last year, it got extremely boring really fast. Having chatted to Mikael and Ilgiz, I quickly realized that this is the protocol I really want to be core-involved in and help shape this new DeFi primitive into something bigger. So… Been working on this ⚙️📦 thingy since February 2021. Gearbox a generalized leverage protocol (allows you to use leverage across various DeFi protocols in a composable way). Composability is the key feature here, and that’s something I truly believe in DeFi. Building silo’ed here doesn’t really work. That was a big reason to fall for this stuff. Many contributors helped with tech and product feedback since March. Amazing to see how many founders and builders help each other in DeFi. We hope to contribute that back, thank you! Andre is a legend amazing man especially. Anyway, a lot more content is coming, and I hope to spam as little as possible about it here - apart from the launch article later and maybe some test invites, we’ll see. NFTs... 😒 are a great entry for retail into the market. Why? Because artists and collectors can replicate same things they already do but in the booming industry (crypto) and sell their stuff at 10x like Paul bros did - which is disgusting. This is what I hate about it. They make no new concepts, and artists just keep tweeting from their big accounts how they are involved in NFT stuff. And why not - they need a strong buyers market, which crypto currently is! However, there are projects which try to innovate the underlying economic incentives, and make interesting models. However, there is not much (or should there ever be) beyond subjective collector value as an economic underlying here. If an unknown crypto artist makes a collection and then stops, I believe it will fall the same way as crypto kitties did (author was rugged on them in jan 2018) as the brand stops growing. So an artist or a collection specifically need to be improving. Not one-offs, because then you can just collect POAPs. As always, I have been wrong about everything, and even Larry - speaking of top signals - made reasonable house money on NBA TopShots (granted Flow NFTs are hardly NFTs).
