Jai Prakash Narayan Bird Sanctuary (Surha Tal) in Ballia, Uttar Pradesh has been designated as India’s 100th Ramsar site. This wetland is rich in avifaunal biodiversity, attracting several migratory and resident birds.

The Supreme Court has observed that suppression of higher educational qualifications for a job post exclusively reserved for lower educational qualifications amounts to depriving genuinely eligible and deserving candidates of the job.*_ _The Court set aside the Madras High Court's order which had reinstated the Respondent, a temporary bank attendant at a Syndicate Bank, overlooking the fact that he secured an appointment to a post earmarked exclusively for candidates with qualifications up to the 10th standard by concealing the fact that he was a graduate.
