Prof. Kanjilal was the 𝐂𝐡𝐢𝐞𝐟 𝐆𝐮𝐞𝐬𝐭 at the inaugural session of the seminar, titled ‘𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐌𝐚𝐧𝐚𝐠𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐍𝐨𝐧-𝐏𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐭 𝐌𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐚𝐥𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐆𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐬, 𝐋𝐢𝐛𝐫𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐬, 𝐀𝐫𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐌𝐮𝐬𝐞𝐮𝐦𝐬’. 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐟. 𝐊𝐚𝐧𝐣𝐢𝐥𝐚𝐥 also inaugurated a curated exhibition, ‘𝐑𝐞𝐰𝐢𝐧𝐝 & 𝐏𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐞: 𝐉𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐧𝐞𝐲 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐀𝐧𝐚𝐥𝐨𝐠 𝐭𝐨 𝐃𝐢𝐠𝐢𝐭𝐚𝐥’, which brings together a selection of IGNCA’s non-print holdings. The exhibition features slides, negatives, glass plate negatives, microfilms and audio tapes, alongside the cameras, projectors, light boxes and microfilm readers once used to produce, process and access these materials. Together, the objects offer a material history of analog documentation and the technologies through which it was created and preserved. The inaugural session, held at the Umang Conference Hall of IGNCA, was chaired by 𝐃𝐫. 𝐒𝐚𝐜𝐡𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐝𝐚𝐧𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐉𝐨𝐬𝐡𝐢, 𝐌𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫 𝐒𝐞𝐜𝐫𝐞𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐲, 𝐈𝐆𝐍𝐂𝐀. It brought together conservators, archivists, scholars, researchers and others engaged with the preservation and interpretation of documentary heritage.
