Online Discussion: Atomic Bombings
Suzuka Nakamura (Know Nukes Tokyo, Nagasaki), Akira Kawasaki (Peace Boat + ICAN, Tokyo), and Yuumi Sato (HOPe, Hiroshima) will be the featured speakers at our upcoming online event, which is part of our Nuclear Survivors campaign.
We are thrilled to host these inspiring individuals who will share their insights on the atomic bombings and their aftermath. Each speaker is related to different organizations in Japan.
Know Nukes Tokyo is at the forefront of a civilian movement in Tokyo. Their current efforts focus on conducting interviews with Japanese politicians to understand their perspectives on nuclear disarmament, as well as fostering online dialogues about Hibakusha stories. Peace Boat, a Japan-based international NGO, is dedicated to promoting peace, human rights, and sustainability. The organization conducts its primary activities through a passenger ship that voyages around the world. Meanwhile, HOPe, the Hiroshima Organization for Global Peace, is committed to advancing the Hiroshima Initiativeâa proposal aimed at achieving a world free from nuclear weapons.

Kritische MÀnnlichkeiten durch neue ErzÀhlungen. Caballito de Mar aus Kolumbien berichten
Toxische MĂ€nnlichkeit ĂŒberwinden wollen viele. Aber was sind kritische MĂ€nnlichkeiten oder queer-feministische Formen des Mann-Seins? Die kolumbianische Organisation âCaballito de Marâ (Seepferdchen) berichtet ĂŒber ihre Erfahrungen aus MedellĂn und gibt uns einen Einblick in ihre Bildungsarbeit. In dem transmedialen Bildungsprojekt bietet Caballito de Mar einen kreativen Zugang zu neuen und diversen ErzĂ€hlungen von MĂ€nnlichkeit, um patriarchale Gewalt zu reduzieren.
In der Veranstaltung teilen die Referent*innen AndrĂ©s MarĂn und Catalina Hoyos Ortega mit uns ihren Ansatz, wie sie patriarchalen MĂ€nnerbildern begegnen um gesellschaftliche VerĂ€nderung zu bewirken. Sie schildern, auf welche Fragen und HĂŒrden sie in ihrer Arbeit treffen. In der Online-Veranstaltung wird auĂerdem Raum fĂŒr Diskussion und Austausch geöffnet.

Benetick Kabua Maddison (MEI), Aigerim Seitenova (CFFP), Emad Kiyaei and Sharon Dolev (METO) and Mere Tuilau (APNED) are the speakers at our first online event on Thursday, 28th September at 7pm CEST.Â
We are very happy to have these wonderful people speaking about the topic of nuclear testing and its effects. Within the frame of our campaign âNuclear Survivorsâ, the speakers will focus on impacts in different parts of the world, such as the Marshall Islands, Kazakhstan, Fiji and the MENA region.
The event will follow the concept of a human library, to give space to personal stories. So you are more than welcome to participate actively (but of course just listening is absolutely fine as well).Â

Classical Critical Theory was characterized by a dichotomy. On the one hand, only fundamental change could overcome the wrongs of existing society. Yet, on the other hand, the social revolution predicted by Marxist thinkers failed to materialize. In our time, multiple crises again intensify the need for social transformation; but in many fields, capitalist societies seem far too slow in their ability to change, despite their inherent dynamic. Against this background, the summer school will explore the drivers of and obstacles to radical social transformation today with a focus on the role of social activism and the material preconditions of change.
The summer school will involve plenary lectures and discussions, reading sessions, small group discussions and panel debates. Only the panel debates will be open to the broader public. Die ErzĂ€hlung des âGirl Bossâ, also der selbstbewussten Frau, die erfolgreich Job und Privatleben meistert, in Aktien investiert und nebenbei ein eigenes Business aufbaut, ist ein modernes MĂ€rchen, das insbesondere auf Social Media viele AnhĂ€ngerinnen findet. Manche feiern es als feministische Errungenschaft, dass Frauen Konzerne leiten und in Immobilien investieren: âGirls can do anything!â Mit Frauenquoten sollen die VorstĂ€nde von DAX-Unternehmen weiblicher werden und feministische Slogans auf T-Shirts und Tassen bilden inzwischen ein eigenes Marktsegment.
Doch wie feministisch ist das individuelle Streben nach Erfolg und Wohlstand wirklich? Können wir Befreiung kaufen? Was haben Reproduktions- bzw. Care-Arbeit mit dem Kapitalismus zu tun und kann das Patriarchat im kapitalistischen Wirtschaftssystem ĂŒberwunden werden?
Im dreistĂŒndigen Seminar am 05.07. von 18-21 Uhr kommen die Teilnehmenden ĂŒber diese und weitere Fragen ins GesprĂ€ch.

Trans*Misogynie bezeichnet die gezielte Abwertung und UnterdrĂŒckung trans*weiblicher Menschen. Diese Diskriminierung ist, nicht nur in der cis-hetero dominierten Mehrheitsgesellschaft, Alltag. Gerade in queeren und feministischen Kontexten erleben trans*Weiblichkeit_en einerseits viele AusschlĂŒsse, andererseits aber eher selten, dass trans*Misogynie explizit thematisiert wird.
Der Sensibilisierungsworkshops schafft ein besseres VerstĂ€ndnis welche Formen trans*misogyne UnterdrĂŒckung annimmt, welche Auswirkungen sie hat und wie ein verantwortungsvoller Umgang damit gefunden werden kann. AuĂerdem findet ein Ausblick auf die intersektionalen Schnittstellen von trans*Misogynie und anderen Diskriminierungsformen, sowie auf ihre Funktion in aktuellen politischen Diskursen statt.

The concept of structural racism has emerged as central to current anti-racist struggles and critical theorizing about race and racism. It signals that racism is a social problem that goes much deeper than individual attitudes or issues of diversity. At the same time, what precisely is structural about structural racism remains a matter of debate, and the concept has even become the focal point of a politically motivated ideological backlash. The panel will explore the contested meaning(s) of structural racism and its social-theoretical underpinnings and ask: if racism is indeed structural, what does this imply for anti-racist struggles and their transformative orientation?

Im dritten Teil der Online-Reihe âtalk & actâ schauen wir nach Honduras.
PrÀsidentin Xiomara Castro trat Anfang 2022 ihr Amt mit vielen progressiven Versprechen an und weckte
groĂe Hoffnungen. Gleichzeitig war klar, dass sich die alten Machtstrukturen der Narco-Diktatur, von
Oligarch*innen, organisiertem Verbrechen, MilitÀr und transnationalen Unternehmen, nicht leicht
verĂ€ndern lassen wĂŒrden.
Wie sehen die aktuellen KrÀfteverhÀltnisse aus? Wie positionieren sich die sozialen Basisbewegungen?
Im GesprÀch mit zwei bekannten honduranischen Aktivist*innen wollen wir Bilanz ziehen und von ihren
KĂ€mpfen fĂŒr Gemeindeland und Selbstbestimmung, gegen Megaprojekte und Straflosigkeit, erfahren.

Ăberwachung und Diskriminierung in der ArmutsbekĂ€mpfung
Warum ist eine feministische Perspektive auf Datenerfassung und Ăberwachung in der Sozialpolitik wichtig? Diese Frage erörtert die Referentin Catalina Moreno Arocha von Karisma am Beispiel des kolumbianischen Sozialhilfeprogramms Familias En AcciĂłn (Familien in Aktion).
Familias En AcciĂłn bietet Bargeldleistungen fĂŒr mehr als 2 Millionen Familien und gilt als eines der wichtigsten Sozialhilfeprogramme Kolumbiens. Es gilt als Erfolg bei der ArmutsbekĂ€mpfung und als Revolution in der kolumbianischen Sozialpolitik. Laut einer Studie der FundaciĂłn Karisma ist es allerdings auch ein Beispiel dafĂŒr, wie die technische Verwaltung von Sozialhilfeprogrammen die Autonomie und WĂŒrde von Frauen und MĂŒttern beeintrĂ€chtigt. Catalina Moreno Arocha wird in dem Vortrag die Auswirkungen von Datenerfassung und Ăberwachung aus einer geschlechtsspezifischen Perspektive erklĂ€ren.
Die Feminisierung von Armut und der Umgang mit Datenerfassung und Ăberwachung im Rahmen von Sozialpolitik sind Themen, die auch in Deutschland Relevanz haben. Im Anschluss an den Vortrag möchten wir diskutieren, was wir aus den Analysen und Perspektiven von Karisma lernen können.

Crashkurs Anti:Diskriminierung in Brandenburg â Teil 4: Im Sport sind alle gleich?!
Diskriminierungserfahrungen gehören fĂŒr viele Menschen in Brandenburg zum Alltag. Dies bringt fĂŒr Betroffene oftmals schwerwiegende seelische, soziale, finanzielle oder gesundheitliche Belastungen mit sich.
Im vierten Teil der Talkreihe âCrashkurs Anti: Diskriminierung in Brandenburgâ der Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung und Antidiskriminierungsberatung Brandenburg der Opferperspektive e.V. sprechen wir ĂŒber Diskriminierung im Sport: Was kann rassistischen Beleidigungen auf dem Spielfeld entgegen gesetzt werden? Wie können Barrieren im Stadion abgebaut werden? Wieso ist die Sportwelt oft eindeutig zwischen den Geschlechtern aufgeteilt â und wo sollen Personen Sport treiben, die nicht in die Geschlechternorm passen? Wie können die Strukturen von Vereinen, Fans und VerbĂ€nden inklusiver werden? Welche MaĂnahmen werden bereits umgesetzt und an wen kann ich mich wenden, wenn ich Diskriminierung in einem Sportverein erlebe?
